I don’t think I’m all that interested in “getting ahead”. I’m pretty happy doing what I’m good at, going at my own pace, and enjoying things as hobbies instead of side hustles. I think I’ll stay behind the beat, in the pocket.

Stop thinking of bitcoin as a tool to make you more dollars.

If your bitcoin is in an exchange, it’s fiat.

Bitcoin is not a speculative investment. 1 btc will literally always be 1 btc

Buying bitcoin is not investing. It’s not a way to turn money into more money. Bitcoin doesn’t turn into more bitcoin.

My mentality when it comes to stacking, holding, and trying to convince others to do the same is primarily one of fascination and excitement. I’m honestly less interested in making a lot of money or convincing people they should too. If and when bitcoin takes over, everyone will be better off, regardless of whether or not they were “early”. At least, that’s the hope. In that sense, the pressure is off, and that’s a relief because I’m not interested in telling people about how to make a lot of money. That just feels grimy. Buying and talking to people about bitcoin is fun because it feels great to be a part of something that will inevitably change the world. It’s fun discussing the deep axioms at play, and it’s surreal to see a transaction confirmation. Buy bitcoin or don’t, but let’s have a conversation about what money is, immutable information, and how cryptography can change the world.

It’s nice to see Fidelity compare bitcoin to a spreadsheet. The digital gold thing is an ok starting point, but it’s ultimately confusing and not accurate. Money is information.

Dave Ramsey’s envelope system sure makes explaining bitcoin a confusing process. Money is information.

I just wanna know if there’s somewhere I can watch the CSW lawsuit

Welp, bitcoin is over. Satoshi has revealed himself and is reclaiming control over bitcoin. The network, miners, and wallets. Our computers and ASICS and raspberry pi’s and hard wallets and the internet itself all belongs to the Chosen One. All hail CSW!

Just a quick reminder: Anything you input or upload into an internet connected device is at some risk of being exposed. That is all, carry on.

Really great take. I agree with most of this. I happen to think bitcoin is past the point of no return. It wasn’t always “destined” for success, but, imo, it is now. I don’t think it can be stopped at this point. Aside from that, I fully agree that there will be unintended, unknown, negative consequences of going to a money that has zero democratic levers. We live in a society where the disease of hyper-consumerism is infecting everything around us. Human nature, not fiat, is it root. But fiat is fuel to the fire. When you take away the “securities” and comforts that have been afforded to us via accelerated advancement and highly incentivized investment in anything and everything… I’m concerned about what will be left, and what the new method of self-destruction will be. I have hope, but not any degree of certainty, that things will be less bad overall with bitcoin. But the human nature problem is not fixed by bitcoin, and some things will be worse.

Bitcoin is apolitical. Bitcoin is political in the sense that EVERYTHING is political, or can be made into a political issue. And, it will absolutely disrupt the current political system. But money should not be political, and fiat inherently is, just like religion should not be political, but the church inherently used to be (before separation of church and state). Religion is apolitical, but separation of church and state was probably considered highly political. Money is apolitical, but separation of money and state is highly political. Bitcoin is raw mathematical information. It’s a simple ledger of “who owns what”. It is certainly a societal force, but it is not inherently political. The fact that bitcoin is apolitical is exactly why it needs to and will win.

It’s crazy how foreign self custody is to people as a concept.

If I had to choose between: Candidate A, whose platform I agree with, but wouldn’t be caught dead in a long form, unedited interview. and Candidate B, whose platform I disagree with, but can have a relaxed, 2-3 hour unedited conversation with Joe Rogan. Gotta be honest, I’m probably voting B.

Is it just me, or are comedians some of the hardest hitting interviewers out there? Joe Rogan, Jon Stewart, Russell Brand, etc aren’t reputable journalists, but I love the fearless curiosity and burning desire to say what everyone wants to say. You don’t have to agree with the conclusions they come to (I often don’t) but listening to them is WELL worth hearing the questions they ask.

Money is not hope. Our souls have a God-sized hole, and bitcoin, being objectively finite, is more honest about the fact that it cannot fill that hole. Bitcoin is not hope.

“Gen Z is the future, we need to make sure they understand bitcoin.” IMO, no. They’re the generation that’s not going to know how it works, and that won’t be a bad thing. When bitcoin is WIDELY adopted, most people won’t know how it works. Millennials are going to be the ones to truly turn the tide. Gen X, and boomers for that matter, are NOW, and Millennials are NOW AND the future. Time to W-key.
