There are two types of Bitcoiners. There are the ones who just celebrate it or complain, and there are the ones who get into the messy, hard work, taking high risks to build infrastructure, energy, apps, and education, regardless of what the Bitcoin price is doing. I know it’s easy to criticize El Salvador. But again, there are two types of Bitcoiners. The ones who like taking the easy path, who just write what they like and don’t like, and the ones who take the hard path of navigating through rejections and FUD, moving things forward. Changing a nation takes decades. El Salvador is transforming in a way I never imagined. But there are two types of Bitcoiners: the ones with high time preference, who come here and want to enjoy a first-world country experience, and the ones with low time preference, who know they are coming here to build. If you are on the ground here, you know what’s truly going on. You know there’s a lot of work to do. You are not a tourist, you are a role-model Bitcoiner, you are the Bitcoiners we need here, the ones we want to welcome, and I personally thank you for helping us build this country from the ground up. On the topic of education, unfortunately the country didn’t put the needed focus and effort into education during the introduction of Bitcoin. And once the government realized that education was needed, they were forced to find a quick solution, even though that solution was suboptimal and was even criticized by the teachers who had to work with what they had. Fortunately, today the situation has improved greatly. Both education and fixing the economy here are part of the main focus. The new Bitcoin Diploma is a leap ahead of anything ever done. It’s a super visual, engaging, and relatable Bitcoin introduction, and the first rounds of feedback have been so positive that they exceeded everyone’s expectations. When the Ministry of Education tells you that the skills and perspectives shared in the book are desirable for every single Salvadoran citizen, that’s true signal. It’s a 418-page book, approved without changes except for a few small typos (these people are very professional and have incredible attention to detail). Teachers love it, students love it. I saw with my own eyes how this book changes lives. The financial foundation it builds and the philosophy embedded into every chapter and story will make a dent. And I’m sure of it, because my team already saw it. It’s extremely hard to create neutral, grounded, self-sovereign education for an entire nation. And this project is already on the move, with hundreds involved. It will take time, but it will eventually reach every single school. And then, the undeniable proof of work will show. And maybe, but just maybe, it will transform some Bitcoiners here too. My team and I learned a lot ourselves while developing this. Creating education is a humbling process. Sometimes we thought we designed the best way to explain something, then we got feedback from someone who never studied money or Bitcoin before, and we had to go back to the drawing board. This single book measures the weight of freedom. There will be people who call it propaganda and indoctrination, but I can guarantee you they have never come close to one of these books. If you are building here, please share what you are doing in El Salvador. I want to hear your story. And for the ones who are not here, I’ll leave you with something to think about. “Don’t trust, verify” is hard. Visiting a country is not verifying. Getting involved in the hard, messy, long-term task of building what matters here, that is. Viva #ElSalvador image
