Love banks. "To help you manage your finances this December" they want to run earlier debit orders. Everyone knows this is not a favour or convenience for account holders, it's so the account balance doesn't get turned into Christmas cheer before they get their hands on it

Nothing more infuriating than disputing transactions with the bank. Literally 2 hours of being passed around on a chat to eventually be given a phone number. I'm about to get an envelope and send a stool sample to one of their executives.

Unbelievable that Google, the company responsible for Android and a tonne of apps, cannot figure out a well-integrated Windows experience for their workspace tools

Datomic and Nostr seem like natural bedfellows

Nostr feeds being chronological is mostly a weakness. We rip on "the algorithm" but I'm 100% fine with an algo that has some idea of what I would like to see or respond to, and place those first, and then offer chronological loose ends. We're not awake or online at the same times; I don't want to have to scroll through every single post between now and 6 hours ago to find out that the Coldcard Q was finally offered in gold flake.

Glad to hear that the solution to spam was another million or so relay repos, can't have enough of those apparently

Seeing Checkers getting bankrolled by not only FNB but now Discovery Bank's rewards programs, at the expense of Pick 'n Pay, makes me mad. Banks shouldn't decide who lives or dies. Checkers and FNB already rolled out the red carpet to American Sugarwater aka Starbucks to get a foothold in #SouthAfrica, at the expense of many excellent local coffee franchises, and now they want to kill off Pick 'n Pay. Not on my watch. Pick 'n Pay remains the only retailer willing to stick their neck out and support Bitcoin via Lightning locally, let's reward them for that. A 15% kickback is not worth it longterm to kill of Pick 'n Pay shortterm.
