In today's edition of "Our healthcare system is broken and we are all going to die", I had to speak to 7 people over the course of 2 hours to find out that I still can't get a drug that was prescribed on 12/23 because the Dr. never sent the request to the pharmacy my insurance company makes me use.

πŸ’¬ Using a habit tracking app is a hell of a lot more fun as a retiree than it was as a working stiff. My personal goals these days are about improving my health and learning new things, not closing tickets and progress on projects.

I pay for an email and domain service with the catchall redirected to my own email address - when I sign up for a service I set my email for that service to be [servicename]@mydomain.com, this way when I see spam coming in I know which bastard service sold my details, I then never use them again.

Question for y'all. I am eating at a local Greek restaurant. A man walks in and loudly goes on an anti-liberal rant to his friend on the other side of the dining room. I decide to express my lack of appreciation for having my meal interrupted. Now that I've left I'm not sure I made the right decision. Shou... social.lol

Greetings on the first Saturday of the new year, from the shore of Lake Crabtree, situated in a park in Raleigh, NC that's so big they hold a 100-mile trail race there every year. Wonder Woman is up here training for it, again. image

Here's a list of people you may respect. All of them are guilty of the same thing - they said the people who correctly predicted what Trump was going to do as president were alarmists who were unjustifiable crying wolf. Ezra Klein, Matt Yglesias, Bret Stephens, Jon Stewart, David Brooks, Josh Barro

The mosque in my town is named for Omar ibn Said. Today I learned that he was an Arabic scholar from West Africa who was captured and enslaved at the age pf 37. He ended up here, where he wrote several books, including an autobiography. He is buried in a neighboring county. He died in 1864. image

Alright, I’m just going to say it. Flexing about how little you use a mouse because of your incredible keyboard dexterity is one of the geekiest things computer people do. Not going to rag on emacs and vim, because I don’t want anyone to come to my hose and kill me, but they’re weird too.

This is what we eat on New YearsDay where I am from. That's black eyed peas, collard greens, cornbread and ham. Every time I have ever eaten it, I have lived to see the next NewYears Day, so it obviously is more than just superstition. It actually works. Y'all got anything like that? image
