In this article, I analyzed attacks on blockchain consensus protocols, with a primary focus on two key attack vectors: the 51% attack, relevant to Proof of Work (PoW) systems, and the Sybil attack, which targets Proof of Stake (PoS) systems. https://medium.com/coinmonks/understanding-different-type-of-attacks-on-blockchain-consensus-6edbc47d7f1b I explored the vulnerabilities inherent in each of these consensus mechanisms. My analysis highlighted the complexity of PoS as a significant source of potential risks. I pointed out that the PoS algorithm, because it has to manage not only coin issuance and block validation but also reward distribution, is, in my opinion, more susceptible to vulnerabilities compared to PoW. I explained that a Sybil attack in a PoS system involves an attacker creating a large number of fake identities to gain undue influence over the consensus process. On the other hand, I described the 51% attack in PoW as a situation where an attacker (or a group of attackers) gains control of more than half of the network's hashing power. This control allows them to manipulate the blockchain by preventing other miners from validating blocks and even reversing transactions. I also discussed the costs associated with carrying out these attacks. I noted that while greater coin delegation in PoS makes an attack more expensive, the lower costs for validators to run their nodes also lower the barrier to attack by reducing the net gains. In my analysis, I considered that PoW, with its requirement for specialized hardware and high energy consumption, presents a higher barrier to attack compared to PoS, even though it also reduces net gains. While my main focus was on PoW and PoS, I did acknowledge the existence of other consensus protocols and various other attack methods, such as exploiting vulnerabilities in the protocol's code or launching DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks to disrupt network availability. Ultimately, I concluded that decentralization is absolutely crucial for the long-term security and resilience of any blockchain, regardless of the specific consensus mechanism used.

#AI Co-optation Of The Human Brain What are the limits of the AI? 1. Decision-making Transhumanism is the next step if AI advances in such a way that the majority accepts the replacement of people's decisions. 2. #privacy The use of data for training Large Language Models has a personal risk; when your personal information is linked to your identity you have a serious problem of security. #Technocracy 2030 #AI image

#AI Is Evolving Faster Than You Think I believe that the AGI singularity is not about reaching the level of human consciousness, but about the ability of AI to evolve on its own and be autonomous. Ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt warns that in 2-4 years AI may start self-improving and we should consider pulling the plug. image

A New Paradigm for the Book Industry As an avid reader, I find the possibilities presented by AI very interesting. I can ask a bot to summarize a book for me, give me reviews with a certain analysis profile, or interact with the book almost as if I were interacting with the author (I ask the bot to respond as if it were the author himself). But I can also ask the AI to write a book on a topic of my choice and write it “as if it were...”, and believe me it does it quite well, and some LLMs are better than others. I can even ask it to improve the writing to be even more similar to the author and it really improves. Try it, you will be surprised!

Think Differently To Understand An Asymmetrical World The logic of the human mind prefers symmetries and graduality. Human beings find it difficult to understand asymmetries. But the world is not a chessboard where each piece moves forward predictably and uniformly. The reality, in nature as well as in technology, economy, and society, is profoundly asymmetric. This development does not follow a gradual or linear path but explodes in exponential leaps and geometric patterns that overwhelm our intuition. In nature, this asymmetry manifests itself in phenomena such as cell growth, which doubles over time, or in pandemics, where a virus can spread exponentially, transforming the world in weeks. In technology, the dizzying rise of artificial intelligence or cryptocurrencies is a reminder of how a seemingly insignificant idea can reshape entire industries in the blink of an eye. The economy is also marked by the disproportionate dominance of a few players: 20% of companies typically generate 80% of revenues, a reflection of the Pareto Principle. This dynamic is not accidental; it is governed by laws that structure our reality. Moore's Law, formulated in 1965, observed that the number of transistors on a chip doubles approximately every two years, lowering costs and multiplying computational power. Ray Kurzweil extended this idea in his Law of Accelerating Returns, which suggests that technologies not only advance faster over time but that each innovation accelerates the next. In a connected world, Metcalfe's Law exposes how the value of a network grows exponentially with the number of its users. This phenomenon explains the unstoppable rise of platforms such as social networks and digital commerce. The Law of Accelerating Returns adds a crucial nuance: each scientific or technical advance creates the basis for even more rapid future advances, unleashing an unstoppable feedback loop. The asymmetry of progress invites us to rethink our vision of the future. We cannot expect linear changes when our world's rules are exponential. Understanding and embracing this reality is the first step towards building a future that, although unpredictable, can be shaped by those who know how to navigate its asymmetries.

#AI DYOR How to do your research quickly and accurately with Artificial Intelligence? 1. Choose three chat bots 2. Set a clear prompt about your research, and it doesn't necessarily have to be short, you can elaborate. As in life, you can only get good answers with good questions. 3. Copy and paste the same prompt in the three chat bots. 4. Copy and paste the three answers into any of the chat bots you have chosen, and tell it to compare and present to you the important differences between the three answers. . . . This way you will know that if there are no differences the information you have obtained is accurate, otherwise you will have to deepen the differences by asking each one for more precision about them. . . . BEST PRACTICES The known chat bots on the market are : ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, Claude, Mixtral, Meta, among others. There are platforms that integrate several chat bots, such as poe.com. With time and use you will realize which chat bots give you the best results. Although you can make anonymous prompts, most of them will ask you for a username, but you can create a fictitious one for this use, to maintain your #privacy. Use VPN for added protection. You may need up-to-date information, but you should consider that many chatbots of free services have information that is not online, except for some such as Perplexity or WebSearch within Poe. You can check if they have up-to-date information by simply asking them or requesting current information.
