One thing that shocked me deeply in Europe was I saw no young people in high end restaurants and hotels. Not even like 5 stars, but just moderately good ones.
I only saw old people there. Younger people were either from America or Asia.
Every time I stepped into a good restaurant in Europe, everybody was like dressed up.
I was like: WTF, I am just wearing a T shirt and look totally cheap. But this place is not even expensive, am I living in alternative reality?
Young people in Europe must dislike good places.
Or, the economy has failed them so that they couldn’t afford shit.

Just dropped in a BJJ class in Bangkok. It was amazing. The couch was super welcoming. Other training partners were friendly and competitive.
Sparred with a teen, couldn’t get the submission despite getting advantages. Super resilient kid. I respected his fighting spirit.
Wrestled with a white belt 10-20% stronger than me and he did not get advantage. Saw a light disappointment in dude’s face. That’s BJJ. My testosterone probably bumped afterwards.
Again, there was that female blue belt who could smash every white belt guy. Got triangles, choked. The girl kindly asked if I was ok after she choked me. I was ok, so was my self esteem LOL.
Just like the Judo dojo in Portugal, they again did not let me pay and trusted that I would show up later this week to buy a longer program.
Martial artists are generally the most friendly people you will ever encounter on this earth, despite that they are likely also the most capable people of violence.
We train to be barbaric in body, peaceful in mind.
Reflection: haven’t been training for almost 3 weeks and with jet lag, I am not losing skills. But, it’s almost 1.5 years and I will I am still 1.5 years away from a blue belt.
I know exactly why I’ve progressed so slowly. I need to train consistently. The learning from the Judo gym is also precious: agility and flexibility are important. Just because inflexible people can do BJJ doesn’t translate to flexibility doesn’t help BJJ. It’s a sport, body matters. View quoted note →
Had an unpleasant experience by the server of a chocolate shop in Zurich airport. I am 99.9999% sure this person either has impulse control disorders or is a racist.
But this is what I think to myself nowadays: for every hater I encounter, I will create 10 more friends in my life. Eventually, my friends will out number haters.
Madeira’s sea breeze whispers through the pane,
A necklace before me, ungiven, I cannot ordain.
Echoes of the great sail still grand,
Now memories fading, like footprints in sand.
I dwell in the Atlantic’s jewel so bright,
Writing love letters that won't see your sight.
A postcard I thought to send your way,
Yet with paper unfolded, words wouldn’t stay.
Alone, I wander Funchal’s lanes,
Seeking delights of the earth's finest treats,
Dreaming of moments when we finally date.
Sunrises in splendor, sunsets so grand,
Yet without your face, they pale, they strand,
Beauty around me, but empty, unplanned.
Here, revelry dances both night and day,
Songs in the air, where the festive stay.
But I must set sail, no longer delay,
For this traveler’s heart has been led astray.
Soon, I’ll depart this Atlantic gem,
To speak the words I’ve longed to send.
Now I must set sail, and follow love’s flight,
For this traveler’s heart is yours by right.
I’d trade this Atlantic’s most radiant pearl,
To tell my love to the fairest girl.

If the choice of freedom makes one’s life miserable, the person has chosen fake freedom. Don’t anchor your freedom to external things.
I went to a Judo class for the first time, wearing a BJJ gi and were thrown by a 9? year old boy and got pinned in side control.
So not used to that in Judo you can’t back touch the floor.
By disarming myself from most BJJ moves, it’s learning to walk again in Judo.
I shall have my revenge.

@YakiHonne just DMed me about their relay support initiative but it’s not clear on their article how to submit. What’s the link? Do I just publish a note to apply?
Who's the author of nosta.me?
Sqlite should be able to support us until 1000+ people I believe
1. image/file uploading
2. member list
3. multi admin
4. authenticated read (so that admin can config that other people can't read from this relay as well, optionally)
5. channels (or any way to divide kind1s to different groups)
features that I feel needed at the moment, in my priority
Other developers who don’t work on social/mobile client, what do you do when purple pilling people? View quoted note →
As a developer, can I purple pill people with a client that I don’t contribute to?
At the restaurant, 2 ladies asked me to join their table and we started a great conversation. They asked me what I did and I explained that I worked on a social/chat kind of application. But the one I am working on is not a social media per say and not really for individuals. If I
purple pill them with Damus, it feels kinda like I am lying or taking credit.
@jb55 what’s your take on it?
Sometimes I am just amazed by good quotes I come up with during code review.
In general, data structures are implementation details and interfaces describe intensions.
I love code reviews

Dips are 10x harder than muscle up after some reps. I don’t like dips.
I worked out, ate, and coded today. It was a good day. GN.

Very detailed and right-on-point thoughts. @General Ned Ludd I have been thinking about similar issues a lot but you put it better.
