It seems that people haven't been picking up on MACSEC at all in the privacy space, even though it provides protocol level anonymity (mac addresses are easily changed and reveal nothing about the communicating parties). MACSEC can be wrapped and lifted to eg. ipv6 GRE frame and transported over Tor with onioncat. If you wanna go i2p there is garlicat for that. This would create a really private and easily used way to connect different LANs via Tor.
