The reverse cancel culture going on for the people celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination is really fascinating to me. The liberals being cancelled are so used to being on “Team Good” they can’t believe what they’re saying is subject to consequences.
That’s only for racists and anti-vaxxers. At least when I was posting about covid, I KNEW I was saying something with which sycophantic pearl-clutchers and virtue signalers would probably take issue. Feels like these clowns have policed the cultural discourse for so long they're totally blindsided. Getting canned from their jobs left and right, didn’t see it coming at all.
I don’t know if this is a good thing — yes, these people would cancel you in a heartbeat for expressing even the mildest dissent regarding evil totalitarian policies, and yes it’s classless and vile to celebrate the death of someone who engaged in peaceful discourse just because you don’t like his view, but losing your livelihood for making a stupid and classless post is draconian. They too are just engaging in speech we don’t like. They didn’t shoot Charlie Kirk.
On the other hand, it’s hard not to have some schadenfreude seeing the intolerant subjected to their own medicine. As I said I don’t know if it’s a good thing, but it might be necessary.
More just a fascinating thing because unlike people who dissented during covid and knew the compliant mob was coming, seems like these idiots hadn’t the faintest clue.

Last night, before going to bed, I had to finalize my pick in the Redskins-Packers game for my against-the-spread picking pool. I checked, saw that I had the Packers, but changed my mind at the last second, picked the Redskins, went to bed.
Woke up this morning, watched the 40-minute edited version of the game (it's on in the middle of the night in Europe where I live), and the Packers won (and covered the spread) easily. I was beside myself -- what an idiot switching it at the last second! What the hell was I thinking?
I was pissed for about 20 minutes, then went to check something else on that page, and realized it had me as having picked the Packers! I had neglected to *save* the change!
Sometimes things just go your way.
The purpose of life is to experience suffering to its essence, and in that essence discover peace.
But most people are taught suffering is something you have to minimize to the greatest extent possible in the pursuit of pleasure and enjoyment. The problem is that just leads to more suffering and no peace.
Wife's liberal friend posted on Facebook a long “thoughtful piece” about how of course it’s tragic, and of course she has empathy, but basically Charlie Kirk got what was coming from his incendiary rhetoric. It’s like she got the requisite platitudes out of the way, and then justified his murder because she really really really disagreed with him.
If you wanted to be like Warren Buffett, would you just buy all the stocks in Berkshire Hathaway’s portfolio or would you rigorously research prospectuses and markets for decades until you had a deep understanding?
If you wanted to be like Michael Jordan would you learn his particular moves, shave your head and stick your tongue out while driving to the basket, or would you channel insatiable competitiveness into unfathomable devotion to playing winning basketball in your own style?
If you wanted to be like Jesus, would you become a Christian and read the Bible, or would you manifest as God incarnate and tell the truth no matter how badly you were treated for doing so?

I’m sorry but quite frankly this is a retarded response. No one is arguing crazy people should be left on the streets. It has zero to do with what I posted.
This the problem with social media — you post something and people just run with some random association with what you posted. They simply cannot stay on topic.
I don’t know what the solution is for this, but it is annoying as fuck.

Guy who murdered Iryna Zarutska claims the government “put materials in his body” and caused him to do it. Don’t throw me in a mental institution, but I’m not ruling out that he’s telling the truth at some level.
Whole thing was just way too on the nose. (Ukrainian refugee, looks like Marylin Monroe, guy says “got the white girl” on camera). If you wanted to stoke racial division, it couldn’t get more perfect. The Charlie Kirk assassination is also radicalizing, even if it’s not some angry leftist but a professional hit job.
They did 9/11 the day after the Pentagon failed an audit wherein $2T had gone missing. This is going down just as the pharmaceutical companies are being called to account in Congress.
I don’t know what’s true, but I do have a sense when I’m being manipulated by now.

so much tension/anxiety in the air this morning, almost feels like 9/11
Feel like I’m being manipulated, like there’s a dark force pushing on me to react. I know portions of the left have become bloodthirsty lunatics. I know the media stokes this. I know murderous psychopaths have been allowed to roam the streets for no conceivable good reason. But I am staying frosty even with the sick feeling in my stomach.
What is really going on? What’s the aim? What’s coming that made them feel compelled to act now?
Went to the French bakery the other day to get some bread. Lady behind the counter asks, “Would you like it sliced?”
I said “Of course, it’s the greatest thing since… I don’t even know what.”
