Very sad today

SEPTEMBER 10, 2001 — UNO NUNCA MUERE LA VÍSPERA Editor, Cinematographer: Monika Bravo Score, Sound: flora & fauna, Codek Records 2000 Wtc 9/11 24 years ago today. I am asked repeatedly to allow this footage to be shown. I created it as an art piece based on a personal experience, and this is the way it is meant to be shown. I was part of the WORLD VIEWS Studio program at the World Trade Center (LMCC), for three and a half months along with other 14 artists, we shared 1000 s/f on the 92nd floor of tower 1. On September 10th like any other day I set up my camera and recorded in time lapse images from the harbor , these images were going to be part of an interactive video installation I was working at the time (A_Maze). After the tragic events of the following morning, where artist Michael Richards lost his life, I decided to create this document in his memory. The film is five minutes long but the footage was recorded for almost seven hours it depicts an unusual thunderstorm from what it would be the last day of the WTC.

I was fortunate enough to have a mother and a grandmother who created preschools out of these pedagogic streams, which is probably why I’m a creative weirdo, shaping the world through imagination and independence, and inspiring others to be unique. Steiner/Waldorf is about rhythm, imagination, art and beauty, and the wonder of storytelling and seasonal cycles woven into daily life; Montessori is about independence, sensorimotor learning, and freedom to choose; John Dewey is about inquiry and how to collaborate democratically. then I entered normal school and it was a shock, I was constantly punished for being myself, but that gave me the resilience to be the person I am right now, so yay! My mother was so unique that for her, weaving Steiner’s rhythm and wonder, Montessori’s sensorimotor independence, and Dewey’s spirit of inquiry and collaboration was something supernatural, an instinct she carried with ease. Her aim was always to give children the possibility to discover things by themselves, to find freedom through presence and rhythm, and that is the legacy I carry. Upcoming eclipses : So right now, not only do we have these eclipses in this nodal axis, but we have Saturn, that takes 30 years to come back to the same place, activating these eclipses as it goes back to Pisces. The lord of time has already been a few months in Aries showing us where we have to be based, have courage, become individuated. Suddenly he says “oopsie, I forgot something, I have to go back, try to fetch it.” The whole deal with Saturn going back is not to fall into a role that has been outgrown, like for instance: any role of victimization: poor me, it’s just happening to me, I can’t believe it. I can take responsibility for these snafus, whether it’s in economic decisions, whether they’re relational decisions, information that you got wrong, creative endeavors, how you deal with your personal daily habits, your professional career, how you’re projecting yourself outward, your ideologies, and even how you tell lies in front of yourself when you’re in front of your unconscious. That’s a double whammy: seeing things being revealed to you and then saying, “no, that’s not happening!”
