Just helped a friend the other day boot up a Multibit HD wallet from 2013 that hadn't been opened in more than a decade. It took a day to get current, but it connected, downloaded and verified blocks, and he sent a transaction to his new keys without a hitch. Wild. Multibit was the goat.

#Bitcoin has "no intrinsic value" in exactly the same way language has no intrinsic value. The value of both is derived from the network it creates and what what is possible only with if that network exists. A society without language to communicate information is so poor it's hardly worth calling it a "society." The same is true for Bitcoin and sound money. Keep watching. The world of bitcoiners will keep getting wealthier, and the fiat world will keep getting poorer. You are invited anytime you would like to stop having fun staying poor using money that explicitly steals from you and says its for your benefit.

People don't realize that #Bitcoin can conquer a $100+ trillion market simply because of multisig and the unbreakable reliability of its settlement. There is no collateral that can even come close to any of the 5 most important traits you want in a perfect collateral. Bitcoin destroys all of it. - quick to exchange - easy to verify - easy & quick to liquidate at any time on any day - cant be damaged, perfectly portable - completely unmatched in mitigating trust and custody concerns Literally nothing is even in the same ballpark.

Ai is becoming the most invasive surveillance tool ever, it’s explicitly bypassing all encrypted communications, sandboxing, and privacy implementations so that it has “the right context.” It is literally reading passwords off your screen. For a little bit of convenience, we are losing literally every major barrier we have built for privacy and security in one swing.

"hate speech" and "misinformation" is EXACTLY what free speech was enshrined to protect, because every single person in power believes that speech that threatens them is necessarily incorrect and "dangerous." If you cant think hard enough to realize the label of what is "truth" is the very principle in question, then you are destined to live in a cage built of your own ignorance.

I’m gonna stop referring to the “fed’s decisions” and start exclusively calling it “our central banks new price controls.” It’s foolish that we go by their fake names instead of calling a spade a spade.

So #Monero is being persistently 51% attacked right now by paying miners who merge mine a shitcoin token and reorging all of the blocks produced by the rest of the network. And miners are staying because they are making like 300% what the other miners are making do to the shitcoin. Looks like they’ve had a few 6 block reorgs and it’s still just rolling like this. 🤯😬 Experiments in malicious crypto economics in real time.

Why do new appliances all sound like old annoying 8 bit video games? I set the temperature on the oven and it does a little jingle like I just got a mushroom in Super Mario Brothers. This is such a dumb and pointlessly bothersome “tech” trend.

If everyone builds a project they want to see in the world, 90% of the won’t work right, or will make poor decisions, or have bad timing, but 10% of them will move us forward in a major way. And 1% of them will change the entire question of what to build and where things are going next. Just keep building, whatever you can. It’s like proof of work. Not all hashes produce blocks, but your hashes are worth the same as everyone else’s. Let’s brute force our way to the world we want to live in.

Bitcoin has now been working and trading for 15 full calendar years. It's time to see how it's doing and run some numbers. On Jan 1, 2010, there were 1,624,000 bitcoin in circulation trading at around $0.001 each. The total market capitalization of bitcoin was ~$1,624. On Dec 31, 2024, there were 19.803 million bitcoin trading at around $93,389 each, for a total market capitalization of $1.85 trillion. In total over the 15 years, the size of bitcoin cash balances has increased by 110,400,000,000,000%, or around 110 billion percent. If, during the next 15 years, bitcoin grows at only 1 ten millionth of its growth rate over the last 15 years, it grows to a total market cap of around $210 trillion, making it larger than all the world's fiat currencies and government bonds combined. In such a world, a government may be able to keep its shitcoin alive if it doesn't inflate its supply too much (a big if, and an even bigger may). Whether they do or do not is largely inconsequential, because either way, inflation won't be able to touch the majority of the world's wealth. Any bitcoin bearish thesis needs to present a coherent explanation for why bitcoin's next 15 years are going to have a growth rate that is significantly lower than a ten millionth of the rate of the past 15 years. Don't expect to hear one from people who get paid from the inflation bitcoin will kill. Happy 2025! Fiat is over if you want it! image

Waymos (ghost cars) scare me. That's too much future right there. I better get used to them though. When will there be more driverless cars on the road than ones with a human behind the wheel?

Happy Sunday 🌞 Sundays used to mean prison visitation day, a good day. Thinking of my friends still behind bars and their families who made the trip to see them. Stay strong fellas.
