Back when I was still on Malaysian Muslim Twitter, I often noticed how many defended the banking systemβs usury nature, sometimes without realising it, simply because it carried the label βIslamic Bank.β
Whenever alternatives were suggested, avoiding unnecessary loans, living simply, renting a house, sacrificing some comfort, or even buying a little BTC, those voices were brushed aside as unrealistic, , unattainable, even crazy.
I understand why. Change is difficult. After generations under fiat and the structure of Bank Negara (Central Bank of Malaysia), it feels almost impossible to picture life outside debt, fiat, and short-term thinking.
But maybe thatβs the very first step, to realise that what feels βnaturalβ today might just be the chains weβve grown used to.
