Is it just me or couldnt we all use a unique name that doesn't rely on NIP-05?
Using regular domain names is a good first step but not the best we can do. Decentralized domain names can act as our repositories for everything we do here on Nostr, plus our human readable wallet and general identity
Fuck .eth or whatever unstoppable domains is peddling; I've got my eyes squarely on Namecoin: merge-mined with Bitcoin (~60% hash), inexpensive (LN integrated), lean, and built and maintained specifically for this purpose.
Yes there is a coin attached to it BUT there's a secure way to get the names without having to deal with holding anything but BTC using relays
Having a global consensus mechanism like Namecoin bolted onto a Nostr client could be useful for other applications as well...
happy to hear your thoughts.

TBD
Looking to build Namecoin based applications to help onboard people onto Bitcoin.
Does anybody else see the incredible potential to be found in using Namecoin as auxillary blockspace for Bitcoin stuff?
Question for the uninitiated: Why aren't unique human readable Nostr names a thing yet? Names are a good application of blockchain but Bitcoin doesn't seem to have the capacity for handling this. Who out there is working to solve this problem for Nostr?
Will someone out there be our friend?
Just setting up our nymble
