2/ Keep it safe

@Matthew Kratter Maybe this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to find an answer to the self-custody dilemma facing mass adoption. If a billion people suddenly attempt a self-custody transaction, it would take 5 years. Thus, 99% of the world will never self-custody bitcoin. Is this a problem? Am I missing something?
