This is Murphy, a disabled bald eagle. He first began nesting with a rock in March 2023. The keepers of his sanctuary replaced his rock with an orphaned eaglet, allowing Murphy to finally become a real parent. image

Shania Twain’s β€œYou’re Still the One” is one of those songs that never gets old. Written in 1997 as a response to critics who doubted her marriage and career, it became a worldwide hit. With its heartfelt lyrics and warm melody, it has been the soundtrack to countless love stories ever since. Decades later, in 2020, singer Teddy Swims gave the song new life. Bearded, tattooed, and full of soul, he dedicated his cover to his mom and surprised millions with his silky, emotional voice. His version struck a chord, racking up over 230 million views on YouTube. Fans wrote about how his performance brought them to tears, reminded them of lost loved ones, or gave them a rare sense of calm. Teddy has since built a career with both original music and covers, but his take on β€œYou’re Still the One” remains a fan favorite, proving that some songs only grow stronger with time. image

Did you know? Boiled penguin eggs have transparent whites. Penguin egg whites turn clear when boiled. This is because the glycoprotein that would typically make chicken eggs white, ovalbumin, is less present in penguin eggs; there is more of another glycoprotein, called penalalbumin. This makes the eggs more cold resistant. image

Did you know? Marsupials glow under UV light – and until recently, no one had ever captured it on camera. For the first time, a wild eastern quoll – a rare, carnivorous marsupial found only in Tasmania – has been photographed glowing in ultraviolet. The shot, taken by Australian photographer Ben Alldridge, reveals the quoll’s fur shimmering with biofluorescence, a neon-like glow created when fur absorbs UV light and re-emits it at a visible wavelength. Other mammals – from wombats to polar bears – have been known to glow, but this is the first time the phenomenon has been documented in a quoll in its natural habitat. image

Holding hands with someone you love can reduce pain and stress – instantly. Science studies shown that physical touch between close partners can have measurable effects on the body and brain. In experiments where people held hands with a loved one during moments of discomfort, researchers observed lower heart rates, reduced stress responses, and even less perceived pain. Brain imaging studies found that romantic partners often experience synchronized brain activity during hand-holding – especially when one person is in distress. The stronger the emotional bond, the more pronounced the effect. One study even showed that hand-holding during an anticipated electric shock reduced activity in brain regions linked to fear and pain. image
