GM ☀️ Every now and then you come across a piece of medical research that sounds completely absurd... until you realize they're already experimenting on people. A team at Kyoto University has spent years studying a protein called USAG-1, which acts like a brake on tooth development. The idea is to block this protein so dormant tooth germs might continue developing instead of remaining inactive. They already managed to grow new sets of teeth in fucking mice. Imagine walking into a dentist's office to grow a third set of teeth tomorrow instead of those ceramic prothesys. This is fucken crazy. If this eventually works, it could be one of the biggest advances in dentistry in decades. Humans, when they set their minds to something, are extraordinary.
