Poverty suck. But as soon as you have hope, it's just funny. It's just funny to eat ramen for 6 months knowing you'll be eating all the steaks in 2 years. Hope can make most bad situation funny.

I wasn't scared. I knew I could do it. I signed the contract not even having proof I'd be capable of even making a second one. In fact, I failed my second one. I had faith. Fearless. I knew I could do it. But deep down I know. I was terrified. View quoted note →

I wish I could accurately describe you how absolutely WILD that is. 288 days ago I made my first book. 2 weeks later I had a partnership with an amazing publishing house. 1 week later I had 250 books to make. Today I've produced 150 books and that time includes getting my own hides produced on an other continent. Idk if it's obvious, but that is a *crazy* timeline. This shit doesn't happen. People don't become professional bookbinders at proto industrial scale in less than a year. Yeah sure, I'm lucky. In so many ways I am lucky. But man did I use that luck well. View quoted note →

If a thing takes 8h to produce, it means that making 100 of them will take 800h. Well, not really. Producing at scale reduces the time to produce each one. So it's going to take less than 800h. Eh, not so fast. The fatigue of production is real. Humans bound by the law of laziness. The time you saved producing at scale is taken back by the very real fatigue that slows you down after producing 50 units. So how much time does it take to produce 100 of things that take 8h to make? No idea.

How The Easton press sent me the book vs how I send them. My plastic wrapping is TIGHT You might think that's an important detail but I don't. This detail is a proof. View quoted note →

Back then I used polyester thread. This has been upgraded to linen since. Keeping a better harmony between the frequency of the leather and the thread. Also it looks better. More real. View quoted note →
