I was at a coffee shop today with a friend and an older man (80's?) approached us and started talking about his experiences in military and other various topics, hardly any of which I could either hear or understand. He insisted on giving me his napkin of notes, chucked his large pack upon his back, and strolled off. It made me kind of sad. I wanted to hug him.
Good afternoon, Well, it's not the prettiest sourdough caraway rye, but it's still delicious! It's my first break of the day and I'm looking at my yarn. I want to start a third sweater. But I already have two so I do wonder if I even need a third. I think it's more the thought of sitting down and to stop moving so much that appeals. It's hard for me to stop moving! Even as I sit and knit I see the laundry still to fold, the stray socks everywhere (why oh why do I even bother putting those on my children?), and consider a multitude of to-do's somehow growing like noxious weeds in my head. Is it hard for you to take a break? If not...do share your tips with me! (Break over. Guess I could have knit a few rows instead of being here!) image
GM โ˜•๏ธ In looking to add relays I learned that some of them take a fee, which is understood. However, as a newbie, I hardly have even a fraction of the stats needed. So, question: Is there a way to purchase/load stats for an initial base? Or do I just have to wait until I somehow get enough zaps to earn enough to trade in for relays? #asknostr P.S. Yarn in pic is going to be blended for my next sweater. The one on the left was spun from a fleece I had. image
Please: what is the difference between lightning and invoicing? I ask with regards to selling product--how does one receive payment for said product? Would I just email them my Exodus wallet "receive" code? (Is that what is considered "invoicing"??) And "lightning" is....zaps??? And maybe another question: is a newbie considered a "pleb"? Or am I missing some nuance there? #asknostr image
Today: my husband in his car slid his way to a graceful sided stop in our deep ravine driveway rather than bust through the rails to the bottom. Our new rain simply added an unseen sheet of ice to the road. So we're thankful he's ok, even if our car is stuck. Also today: water came pouring into our basement floor. Mind you, it wasn't as bad as @Guy Swann but this is a problem we had last year and had gotten it fixed. So we thought. I don't know how pumpkin cake adds to any of this but today it just needed to find its way into snack time for us all. Snow is drifting again. It's ok; we're warm and together and somehow we'll figure out the troubles of the day. image
Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers and zaps for my little kitty's return ๐Ÿ™. I could hardly believe my eyes when she just came running in! ๐Ÿฅฐ My children's composition is finished. It looks great and tastes good, too. My six year old approves! It will store in the fridge for a few months (better in an amber jar, but this is what I had available). Appreciate you all ๐Ÿˆ #grownostr ๐Ÿ‘†because most people act like human beings here image
GM โ˜•๏ธ I'm a little bummed. One of our kitties was let out yesterday early evening (by mistake) and hasn't been seen yet. I'm guessing owl food ๐Ÿ™ I'm keeping an eye out. Hoping. Meanwhile, I'm making a calendula balm for a friend's cow. She uses it on the udder to keep it all soft. I like to powder the herb and rehydrate it for a bit with a little alcohol first to get a better extraction. I wish she could/would pay me in Bitcoin! Hope you all have a good day and your pets stay safe and sound โค๏ธ #coffeechain
Here's a pic of the simmering glycerite. Covering and simmering this way keeps the aromatic oils from escaping. This is a pretty light potency, 1:10. Included here is yarrow, elder flowers, various mints (including lemon balm, subspecies), and chamomile. Antiviral and antiinflammatory, helpful for colds, flu, fever, circulation and digestion. A good glycerite will keep for a few months. Great for kiddos or people who are sober or otherwise not wanting alcohol (as a tincture). #grownostr #herbalist #homemedicine image
The sunshine is pouring through the skylight (YAY-winter sun in the PNW is not taken for granted!) so l'm heading out to take a walk in a bit and see what birds have stuck around and what berries they are finding. Hawthorn I've discovered already. Meanwhile, taking inventory of herbs and preparations that need to be made. Starting off with a children's glycerite, sealed and simmered to maintain the volatile oils. I have a lot of satisfying work ahead this wintry day and pray the same is true for you all.
