Finishing a 540' run of perimeter fence today. About 3 months ago I finished a 1,000' run of fence. I didn't think I could turn this around so quickly. After today, I'll only have about 300' to finish this 5 year perimeter fence project.

Getting my work done just in time to relax and enjoy an afternoon thunderstorm is a great kind of day.

Family time processing the dried garlic harvest. The kiddo was a huge help cleaning the cloves. Daisy our bottle calf rescue and our dog were playing nearby the entire time. image #farm #homestead #dadstr

I was hoping to finish the prep work for fence installation this morning, but got held up with vines all over a small tree. While working on those I noticed a bunch of small fruit scattered all around only to realize these vines were smothering a persimmons tree. Now, I haven't seen many persimmons in my life to know how they compare, but these are the largest I've ever seen. About the size of a racquet ball. The tree is loaded with fruit. Unfortunately a few limbs had to be sacrificed in the cleanup effort. The overgrowth was unreal. I've been procrastinating on this for years not realizing what was hidden under all those vines. image

All calving is done for the year! I'm still trying to get our calves moved up to May due dates--2 of them hit that mark this year. Huge progress was made this year getting the cows to breed back faster--a testament usually attributed to management/forage quality. The cows that needed to move up the most moved over 6.5 weeks. The downside to this... Next year I'll need to separate my bull so he doesn't start breeding my cows too early so as to avoid winter calving. #cowstr #homesteading #farm

No drizzle, no light rain, no thunder. Just a few, very few, sporadic raindrops. Raindrops should not leave a puddle the diameter of a baseball. The weather this year, specifically since May, has been quite unusual.

This week, we’re diving into the realities of small-scale farming with no fancy equipment, showing how we vaccinate and castrate our Dexter cattle the old-fashioned way. We also explore preserving garlic scapes and pork sausage with our Harvest Right Freeze Dryer, including the prep process and troubleshooting a compressor issue that led to a return. Plus, we dig into installing a drainage trench to improve the farm and share a heartwarming update on our bottle calf, Daisy, and her emergency rescue journey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PInJLGTiEZc https://rumble.com/v6vq7i5-small-farm-grit-working-cattle-freeze-drying-garlic-and-sausage-and-daisys-.html #dextercows #smallfarm #farming #farm #homestead #citadel #homesteadcitadel #livestock #smallscalefarming #smallscalefarm #homesteading #FarmVlog #FarmLife #FamilyFarm #FamilyFarmLife #RegenerativeFarm #OrganicFarming #SustainableFarming #Selfsovereign #SelfSustainable

Definitely excited to see plebs.app for video hosting to compete with current centralized options, but the 100mb limit is a non-starter for my long form content.

Wise Traditions is a great podcast. The Weston A Price Foundation is a good source for anyone still seeking a guiding light to #health and #selfsufficiency. Can you imagine these #ecological victories merging with #Bitcoin financial domination? The results would be truly #revolutionary. Farming/homesteading during the weather extremes are my least favorite, but if I had to pick I'd pick cold.
