til, a few months before Washington State became a state, Seattle, Vancouver, Ellensberg, and Spokane, all almost burned to the ground.
in fact, the number of major US cities that almost burned to the ground in the late 1800s is insane.
til,
before the industrial age, the concept of first and second sleep was widespread and common. waking up in the middle of the night was considered natural, and people would use the time to reflect, read, write, pray…

there is alot of hidden normie on nostr
ive been thinking about how much i dislike the way NVK relates to the world, and how l have felt that way from our first interaction.
i have also been thinking about how unlikely it is that he would intentionally backdoor his own products, and destroy his own life.
Honestly, while i have thought he needed to be humbled, I have no desire to see him completely destroyed.
but i think even more, ive concluded that people who lack compassion, even for their enemies, conflate accountability with self indulgence, and love the drug of enraged self righteousness, are a greater threat to the world than almost anything else.
i used to walk up post alley in the morning, and get coffee in Pike Place. occasionally at the first starbucks.
but it wasnt until today that i looked down the coffee rabbit hole
the Epstein class is very unhappy about your self custody.
i never get tired of the eggs vegetables and natural sourdough combo.

i realized today that zombies are real.
the people that move from scandal to scandal, looking to turn legitimate expressions of anger into manic anger bandwagons for an opportunity to express their zombie madness. they’re like reevers always looking for opportunities to attack, and destroy.
never fall for the lie that zombies are your friends because they temporarily seem to agree with you. they will eat your face off later.
you cant be friends with zombies 🧟♂️
lots of smug sounding comments i could offer about personally preferring old Librebooted and air gapped thinkpads with OpenBSD and Electrum wallet. but its pointless and insensitive in light of the very real losses
cant say i ever expected to ponder using a gravel driveway to increase surface randomness for dice 🎲
i wont be joining cold card lynch mobs.
ive determined butter and hotsauce are high on my personal Mazlow’s hierarchy

A 12 book per year book club would be pretty cool on nostr.
maybe stand alone npubs for different genres…
has anyone successfully implemented polls on nostr?
message from my wife:
“one of our students is in a wheel chair and fell in the toilet so that was a problem. another fell on his skateboard and broke his face. his dad brought him here before surgery, with 8 staples in his head. i don’t understand. anyway, how was your day?”
til,
Nissan designed a race car that used a twin engine(ish) set up, where one engine was a flywheel(ish) storage and delivery device that spun a mass in a vacuum at up to 100k rpm. the set up was so effective, and had so much potential, the FIA banned it.
cause that’s what bureaucrats do with innovation
