If people pay property tax they are not the real owners of their properties. They are just renting it from the government. The slight difference is they are paying just the government and not also the landlord.

We obviously value our own privacy more over someone else's privacy. But we should respect others privacy just as much as our own. For example, we shouldn't share our friends private information nor let it be saved in a cloud. Your friends are the weak point in this chain.
