saw some memetic linguistics on twitter that have lead me to a slightly different conclusion about my aesthetic and cultural critique of nostr… in that I’ve overlooked the impact of “moonboi’s” who larp as maxis when the tide is out, and that developer/influencers sometimes reflect this larp as they would reflect a genuine user base/audience.
master chef was filming at the Magic Castle today and production replaced the flags (🇺🇸&🐻⭐️) with master chef flags… 🤨

🏗️

the story that nostr needs is lost to “not your relay not your note”
I don’t think ppv is what’s missing, rather a system where originally appeared on, and story about how you control where things originally appeared.
#zapathon has always been a scam, let them have it.
here’s what you missed = a friends baby picture that I’m not really social with anymore
Popular with friends = a 3 day old political opinion that was emotionally captivating but has since been debunked
neither of these things makes social media more social, rather just makes it dated media.
You know what did make it social, a little blue dot in messenger, an opaque name in discord. Specially once the “don’t appear” features came about, you could find people to be social with.
My limited understanding, this should be easy with websockets.

ain’t no one here from Reddit that’s just mostr
Critical Theory isn’t Jewish, and the very same critical theory is used to justify hatred of jews. I appreciate those who come out the word work to stand against the hatred of jews, and I understand that finding the words to do so can be difficult. If you’re in the far progressive left, do you, but if you actively appose this shit in every other aspect of your life then just call it what it is, hatred of Jews or Jew hate.
“I refuse to use the term “antisemitism.” I won’t carry water for a word crafted by a Jew hater to put a pseudoscientific sheen on his hate.”

Communities nip is a great way to do Curated Notes, it unfortunately isn’t a value proposition to those looking to build communities. Nor is the sale pitch of how great the “nostr community” is… the initial proposition is YOUR community is great and we have great open sourced tools to allow you support that community, but the reality is we actually don’t have a sufficient implementation of that yet. Channels is more a community to the people you are pitching than the community nip.
Telling people who subscribe to r/crypto “it’s not crypto” is an involuntary reflex that is holding nostr back. Before touting the contributions to bitcoin, it should be stated, there is no underlying blockchain to nostr, this is very different than the “bitcoin is not crypto” gate keeping reflex. Lean into the fact that anything can be an implementation possibility. be more cocksure about the reality of the very low probability of web3 devs to abandon trying to put every on the blockchain, and craft publicity statements that don’t dismiss the name of the form you are in. Their devs reluctantly is a better gate than you could ever craft.
these are intriguing, but deep down, even as someone who doesn’t collect Pokémon cards actively that I would be really disappointed in the Pokémon company if they inserted captain kirk as a thing that could fight my pikachu.

i kinda wanna just start posting notes to a random kind and see if anyone comes finds me over there.

this is a great move… clients that render site previews should copy this and normalize self captioning links (maybe even prompt to do so).
