"There is a way a country disappears without anyone noticing. It does not happen with sirens or tanks or foreign flags. It happens quietly, in offices and courtrooms, in registries and decrees, through signatures that never make the front page and numbers averaged until they lose all meaning. Argentina is disappearing this way, from the ground up. More than 13 million hectares of Argentine land are now in foreign hands. That is not an opinion. It is not rhetoric. It is the outcome of years of meticulous research by the Land Observatory, a project born at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and CONICET, where historians and social scientists have done what the state increasingly refuses: look closely at who owns the territory, and where."

"Iran is in turmoil. Across the country, there have been protests of different magnitudes, with violence on the increase with both protesters and police finding themselves in the morgue. What began as work stoppages and inflation protests drew together a range of discontent, with women and young people frustrated with a system unable to secure their livelihood. Iran has been under prolonged economic siege and has been attacked directly by Israel and the United States not only within its borders, but across West Asia (including in its diplomatic enclaves in Syria). This economic war waged by the United States has created the situation for this turmoil, but the turmoil itself is not directed at Washington but at the government in Tehran."

"In this full debut episode of Games For Everyone, we discuss the upcoming Steam Machine and Steam Frame hardware launches, focusing less on specs and more on the impact these could have on broader Linux adoption. We also reflect on how our gaming habits have changed since the Steam Deck launched back in 2022. Plus, we throw down some bold predictions for 2026, and share what games we've been enjoying during the last month." #linux #gamestr

"Liberals can be every bit as susceptible to war propaganda as conservatives. Many will brand themselves as anti-imperialist and say they don’t support war, but XXX is a brutal dictator who has to go. Every US president of my lifetime has been brutal, but liberals never call for revolution in western countries because they would have to live with the consequences or die during the violence."

"The fires started quietly. In early January 2026, a plume of smoke rose over the lenga forests and glacial valleys of Argentine Patagonia. By the time the blazes were fully visible from the air, thousands of hectares had been scorched, rural communities were under threat, and officials acknowledged that some of the fires were deliberate, with accelerants and military-grade devices recovered. Firefighters, aided by aerial units and the army, battled against fierce winds and a landscape already stressed by drought. But these fires were more than an environmental crisis. In towns from Bariloche to Lago Escondido, whispers circulated that foreign actors, including known Zionists. might be exploiting the chaos. Indigenous Mapuche communities and local activists began raising concerns about Israeli nationals, sometimes identified as Israeli soldiers, moving into remote lands, their presence coinciding with government reforms easing foreign ownership of burned and rural properties."

"Yamb remains polarizing: celebrated by supporters as a fearless Pan-African heroine, yet dismissed by Western governments and their media partners as a propagandist—while in reality she defends the independence and interests of African peoples. As of January 2026, Nathalie Yamb continues her activism undeterred, defying the EU's attempts to destroy her life – much like Swiss citizen Jacques Baud, who isn't even allowed to buy food. Apparently, the EU has no qualms about driving law-abiding citizens to starve simply because they hold a dissenting opinion. Didn't we witness something like this in the last century?"

"We need to be aware of a fundamental shift in the nature of Western governance. The primacy of policy planning, including the expanding sanctions regimes, has shifted from the political sphere (that of elected politicians) to the sphere of what we might call the “Securitocracy.” National policies are being mandated to align with a US-led Western hegemonic framework (NATO and its allies) in mostly Western countries."
