Anyone who spends any time in a hospital will quickly see how much nurses do for their patients. They make an enormous difference. I really admire and respect what they do, and am not shy to say so. Next time you have the chance, thank a nurse.

That cashier who forgot to smile at you may have been up all night with a sick kid, or that guy who cut you off on the highway might be rushing to work because he'll get written up if he's late.

There are people who can speak before coffee. I am not one of them.
I told Mark this, and he proceeded to rattle off the entire Eagle's schedule as I waited for my coffee,. He did this with stats and opinions in order to 'point out' how his Giants will wipe the floor with my Eagles this year -all before I had a single sip of coffee and didn't have the wherewithal to argue back.
Damn him. ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
I really have to say this.
People on Mastodon are just better humans.
You all are wonderful. โค๏ธ ๐ ๐ค
Well, time to drive to Philly to see Dad, then swing by and visit Mark for dinner.
If you never hear from me again, I failed to navigate the inevitably poorly marked Philly detours or I was asked to parallel park.
Since I downloaded my bird ID app, I find myself recognizing most of the birds in my TL. ๐ค
Carolina Wren? Seen it. Northern Flicker? Sure. Downy woodpecker? Pfft.
Something about this makes me feel like one badass birder.
Identified a new bird with my Merlin ID app.

The Downy Woodpecker (pictured is a male)
Downy Woodpeckers make lots of noise in spring and summer, both with their shrill whinnying call and by drumming on trees.

I blew my Mega-Millions windfall on Wawa coffee and a donut. I cannot be trusted with sudden wealth.
Hopefully visiting my father this afternoon. Mark invited me over for dinner. He lives in Rittenhouse Square, which is less than ten minutes from Dad's hospital. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
That friend? The one you can say, "Meet me at that place where we had the thing?" and they know exactly where you're talking about? Hang onto them forever. โค๏ธ
If anyone is familiar with neurodivergence (specifically ADHD and autism) and forms of meditation that have/have not worked for you, your input would be greatly appreciated. DM if you're more comfortable.
Many thanks in advance.
One more client, then it's dinner and pool time ๐ฑ ๐

See? THIS is why I love old Otis!
36 hours straight!!! He's eating and eating and eating.
I can't imagine doing anything for 36 hours straight!

Following you because, yes, you seem interesting, but you mention a superpower is parallel parking, and I was just tooting about that yesterday. I cannot, and I envy those who can!
Looking at the footage from Hawaii, and it's just devastating. I cannot believe it. My heart aches for them. I find myself aching for so many lately it's hard to process. My heart hurts seeing the destruction.
My HOA is apparently doing back deck inspections. I can't imagine what bothered them as I sit out here. It's probably the same old crap. Can't a gal sit on her back deck and sharpen her Samurai sword while testing out her flamethrower? What is this neighborhood coming to? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Coffee breaks on nice days are quickly becoming 15 minutes of bird-watching time on my back deck!
Oh my God, what's happening in Maui....

Otis may have pulled another all-nighter. It's hard to see with the night vision camera, but he just snagged yet another fish. He seems to be catching them left and right!

I see there was another shark attack, this time on Rockaway Beach in NY. I'm not a shark expert, but maybe there's something to the theory that the warming of the ocean is forcing sharks closer to the shores? Regardless, we must be careful not to demonize sharks the way we did in the 70s, after 'Jaws' was released. The ocean is their home. They belong here just as much as we do.
