It was very “commercial” city, newly built specifically to be a tech/business hub to rival Hong Kong. There was not the deep or long standing culture one might find in places like Beijing, Chengdu, or even Shanghai. However, in Shenzhen, I found beauty in the spectacle of the mundane.
