The "if you've got nothing to hide, then you've got nothing to worry about" mentality IS the slippery slope. That is how they thought police you into feeling like a criminal just for thinking about wanting any amount of privacy. Before the rise of the internet, you'd have to be literally parked in a van outside my house to know what I was up to in my room. And now, if you don't tell government exactly how many times you took a shit each year, they could label you as a domestic terrorist and send you to prison for the rest of your life as a "preventative" measure. It's the plot of Minority Report playing out in real time. I DON'T CARE if what I'm doing is not illegal. I DON'T CARE if it's "not worth hiding". IT'S NONE OF THEIR DAMN BUSINESS. And the worst part is they do it under the guise of the role of the protective parent. It's either to protect the kids, or to prevent terror, or "anti money laundering". Seriously?? Go way over there and fuck yourself. You know how people typically launder money? Cash. You know who is the biggest threat to the kids? Politicians. You know who is also the number one imposer of terror? The same government who wants to check all your McDonald's receipts to make sure you didn't pick up any ICBMs while you were there.
