US Economy grew at a 2.8% pace in the second quarter, according to the Commerce Dept. Despite using real GDP (i.e., net of inflation), this is fake news if you understand that the CPI as a true measure of inflation is completely divorced from reality for most Americans. The economy has been shrinking on a real basis, and it’s been this way for a while.

So a few days ago, I was taking advantage of the low fee environment and decided to consolidate UTXOs in a couple of wallets. I initiated the transfer and chose a low-priority fee option. Didn’t realize it at the time, but it was only 4 sats / vB vs the going rate of 6 at the time. The transactions are still hung up obviously, and I can’t increase the fee because I backed into the highest possible amount / balance transfer net of the fee. Is there anything I can do at this point? Just keep it out there and hope mempools clear one day? Initiate another transfer at a higher fee and assume the first transaction probably never goes through?

This dramatic price drop over Germany selling a fraction of its coins and the Mt. Gox FUD is interesting. Is there that much of the market trading this asset vs storing wealth? Where is the demand for Bitcoin to soak this up / i.e., why is the demand side so weak? Is this a reflection of general “jumpiness” and lack of conviction generally in the markets? Is it a reflection of low global liquidity? Miners selling to operate post-halving? Just a few thoughts on the last week. Feels like a major move down might unlock more demand, but might be just as likely to scare it off, as well.

I’ve been in Bitcoin for 4 years, and I’ve stacked a lot of coin under $30k. I’m grateful for that. But I’ve also bought a ton above $50k. I bet over half my stack. Every time we’re pumping, I think that the suits have finally figured it out and I get nervous that I “don’t have enough.” But then somehow we always retrace like this. They haven’t figured it out yet. They don’t know what they own. One day that will change, but it’s not today. Just keep stacking

It’s times like these that I’m reminded that no one knows what happens next with bitcoin. Previous cycles are relevant but it’s a super small sample size. On-chain info is helpful but limited since so much happens off chain. TA and trends are constantly invalidated. Stock-to-flow ignores the demand factor. Power law…IDK yet because its proponents have been too loud for me to dig in yet. No one knows what happens next. Nothing is inevitable. Enjoy the ride.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about constitutional amendments. With Congress unable to function and no one in federal govt willing to problem solve, this feels like the only way plebs (via states) might actually create real change in the current environment. @Joe Carlasare , how realistic is this process? Maybe easier in this environment with social media enabling grass roots? Feels like we could all agree on: - term and age limits for politicians - no insider trading - federal spending capped at receipts / balanced budget What else?
