my personal list (ask for sources): 1. It's no secret that numbers tied to telegram accounts can be doxxed, and it costs very cheap. Moreover, since recently, Telegram specially prevents the use of fake numbers purchased on special services. Probably, this is done in order to sell anonymous numbers built into Telegram itself, which can be bought for the cryptocurrency TON, but the price is absurdly high - about 9 TON, or 19 dollars per number! Usually disposable numbers cost around 0,5$. The only left option is buying ready-made accounts, and mostly from services of Russian origin, which creates new security threats and is inconvenient. 2. The user agreement says that if you are accused of terrorism, Telegram can give the authorities the user's IP address and phone number. And while it says this has never happened before (which is probably not true), the mere fact that it's possible is enough. 3. But, while Telegram swears that it passed “exactly 0 bytes of information to the authorities,” Der Spiegel's report says otherwise: Telegram has repeatedly shared the personal information of its users/users with at least the German government. 4. Telegram was created by a russian man (Durov) and that should not be forgotten. Once upon a time, the creator of Telegram, had a reputation for fighting russian censorship without fear or favor. Now, however, Durov's behavior raises huge suspicions. Back in 2020, Telegram was unblocked because Roskomnadzor “positively assesses the willingness expressed by the founder of Telegram to counter terrorism and extremism.” despite the fact that the original court requirements for Telegram, which led to its blocking, *were not met*. The unblocking of Telegram did happen just when Durov started having problems with his TON cryptocurrency and needed a large investment to keep Telegram functioning. As a result, we see the removal of the “Smart Voting” bot (biggest russian opposition bot) and the «fake» tag for the “Way Home” channel for wives of mobilized men. The aforementioned Telegram glitches have also already happened in 2024 on January 24: Andrey Suslov, Yakutia's Deputy Minister of Digital Development, attributed the malfunctions to preventive maintenance by Roskomnadzor. 11. Telegram's original promise to remain free and ad-free forever has been broken. Because telegram is not completely open source, it cannot be forced to keep that promise. 12. Recently, for the first time, telegram has begun to openly retreat from privacy in favor of commercialization, adding additional privacy features (such as the ability to comment anonymously (from the name of a closed channel), or see when other user(s)/s were online without revealing their data) only for those who have purchased a premium subscription. 13. There are absolutely idiotic vulnerabilities in Telegram: from the ability to calculate the IP-address (and using it — exact location and passport data through shady services) when making a call, to the accurate determination of the geoposition of a person who has enabled the “people nearby” function. (By the way, precise geo-positioning was once fixed, but has recently been made possible again.) If you do not set the settings correctly, it will not protect you even from threat model on the level of a schoolboy who knows programming — in other words, Telegram's settings are not set to privacy by default. 14. Recently, more and more opposition activists have reported that security services read their chats, and FSB officers quote their messages. So as a user, what can you do to help your password? There are three takeaways: 1. Prioritize password length above all else — the amount of variance grows exponentially, thus the security of a 20 digit password is unfathomably greater than one of half its size. 15 characters should be the absolute minimum. If you are using english words inside your password. 2. Don’t even bother with “normal” substitutions, like l33tspeak. Instead insert your l33tspeak into the middle of words or substitute the wrong letters to throw off permutation seekers — for example, instead of “Z3RO” you could have “Z3ERO” or “Z5RO” as stronger alternatives. Adding a “1” or “123” to the end of your password is similarly useless, try inserting it into the middle of your password instead if you must. 3. Change your passwords! If you use weak passwords for small and/or incompetent companies, they will be broken eventually and you may not even notice. Make sure your passwords for important services (email, banking, etc) are completely different from those you use for other accounts. Искренне не понимаю, откуда у людей хватает — ни смелости, ни наглости — но дикой жестокости для шуток про 40%. Я могу понять праваков, шутящих про чёрнокожих: ведь они шутят про то, что те — убийцы . Я могу понять людей, шутящих над мусульманами ("ха-ха, террористы"), даже геями ("ха-ха, педофилы") — ибо все эти шутки базируются на высмеивании «врага» (убийцы, террорист/ки, педофил/ки). Но 40%? Для тех, кто в танке — шутка про "40%" (или "41%") основана на том, что, согласно опросу 2011 г. проведенному в США, 41% трансгендерных людей пытались совершить самоубийство [1][2] (на самом деле их может быть гораздо больше [3]). Это почти каждый второй. Почти каждый второй трансгендерный человек страдает или травится настолько жестоко, что он/а убивает себя. Это смешно? Причем я не призываю забыть о "нетолерантных шутках", ибо я сам, порой, обезличенно шучу про изнасилования или "больных детей". Но как можно угарать над тем, что изнасилованные люди так несчастны, что массово совершают самоубийства? Как можно расклеивать стикеры про то, как изнасилованных нужно травить [4]? Запускать паблики, коммьюнити, площадки для обесчеловечивания больных детей? В конце концов, атаковать и убивать больных детей — и без того находящихся на грани смерти? Нечего говорить, что помимо вопиющей жестокости относительно тех, кто от безысходности убивает себя, злые/абьюзивные шутки и травля поддерживают эти самые самоубийства (становясь таким образом "самовоспроизводящимся пророчеством"). Так, согласно одному анализу, мемы являются серьёзным инструментом для травли, а также формирования взглядов у сторонних наблюдател:ьниц [5]. Согласно другому исследованию, интернет-травля имеет как минимум одинаковое влияние на развитие депрессии и суицидальных мыслей (у любых людей) [6]. Согласно третьему — банальная сильная поддержка трансгендерного ребенка со стороны родителей снижает кол-во суицидов в десять раз (!) [7] — что уж говорить о том, если бы всё общество поддерживало трансгендерных людей. КАКОЙ ДОЛЖНА БЫТЬ ТВОЯ ЭМПАТИЯ, ЧТОБЫ РИСОВАТЬ ПРИКРЕПЛЕННЫЕ КАРТИНКИ? Ответ: никакой. У тебя её нет. Даже сами трансгендер:ки, которых ты травишь, не будут смеяться над тобой с такой же злобой, если узнают, что ты травил их из великих мучений, а после ещё и убил себя. Хоть им и стоило бы. Ряд исследований доказывает связь между гомофобией и антисоциальными, агрессивными и антиэмпатичными чертами [8][9][10][11][12][13][14], и ещё одно (косвенно) — между трансфобией и антиэмпатичностью. С нетерпением жду больше доказательств, почему трансфобов не нужно держать за людей*. *Я, конечно, шучу: не нужно дегуманизировать не-эмпатичных людей (они могут быть отличными — и не трансфобными — челами!), и трансфобы прежде всего заслуживают просвещения, а не ответной ненависти (ну а если уж не сработало…). Насколько я понял, оба полностью отказываются от сбора любой информации о пользователе. Я что-то забыл? Какие ещё есть мысли по этому поводу?
