Saw an exhibition about old maps yesterday. The most accurate measurements of property lines were created by fire insurance companies. The most accurate metrics showing who actually owns the property are the title insurance companies. In other words the incentives dictate that people hedge their risk and place the allocation of said risk in the hands of actuaries, researchers, insurance adjusters and the state at large as a means of dispute resolution. All this as a way to protect private property at its very essence. The very same private property (in this case real estate) that has now demanded a massive monetary premium and acts as a store of value rather than using money because money is FUBAR.
