Here's something I don't usually talk about...
A few years ago I went down a DEEP rabbit hole. I started questioning all the "smart money" advice I was taught:
Diversify.
Max your 401k.
Buy rental properties.
Dollar cost average into index funds.
Here's what I realized:
This advice isn't wrong. It's just outdated.
There are 2 types of people:
1) Savers:
Keep cash.
Lose 7-10% yearly to inflation.
Wait for "someday."
2) Accumulators:
Buy assets.
Watch them grow.
