I was talking to a friend the other day and he was taking the position that we need to just accept it every time government takes away your rights. Every new tax, regulation, law, etc. that narrows your agency and increases the scope of the state must be accepted. When I ask him is that what he wants? Are you a statist? He responds that he isn’t, it’s futile. If you go along with it, it will be easier for you. A slow erosion of rights is preferable to running counter to the state. This is the state of things. I think it is borne out of weakness. We need to reverse this one person at a time. We need to start building a movement that is pro freedom, anti authoritarian.
