FYI for the folks that can't access NostrGram at work (shame shame 😆) or whose system blocks non-standard ports by default (a minority but I've gotten a few reports), I'm working to put the web socket server on its own IP so NostrGram will work for you without you having to know how to change any of your settings. It depends on how long it takes my web host to allocate the IP, so we'll see, but I'll announce it once it's ready.

Already in NostrGram? Refresh the page to get the update. There are two major improvements in this update: 1. I 4x'd NostrGram's web socket server capacity, which has greatly improved performance. So if you were running into lag issues earlier today or yesterday, try it now. It's very speedy. 2. In addition to downloading your entire Nostr history, you can now broadcast your history to any relay -- but you need to be sure the relay operator allows this if it's not your own relay you're backing up to. Watch this video to see how it works: There are also a few smaller changes and bug fixes: * NostrNests.com embeds were enlarged to better show the room and controls * Relays only update in Settings if you change or add one * User Data download issue fixed * Now that Wallet of Satoshi fixed the issue they had with zaps, NostrGram sends Zaps to WoS the way it sends to other wallets (allow for zap counts to show) * Stats (such as your follower count) now only update once per day since it's very database intensive As always, thanks for using NostrGram and thank you for your generous ⚡ which help me continue to work on the app. Without your financial support I couldn't do it. I just 4x'd NostrGram's web socket server capacity. That *should* cure any lag you were seeing before. The server is running really well so any lag must have been from it not being configured to handle enough tasks simultaneously. Let me know if you see a difference.

How's NostrGram's speed for everyone in the last hour or two? It's running fast for me both on desktop with wifi and mobile without wifi, but I've had a report or two about the feeds loading slow. I'm trying to get general impressions from people using it as I monitor the server.

Apologies for the couple of minutes of downtime folks. Had to change something on the web socket server and took a minute.

Another NostrGram FYI: the stats script is very database intensive (it scans all events to aggregate a bunch of things). I've been running it ever 4 hours but have switched it to once a day at 3am ET (the least busy hour). So your followers will only update once a day now instead of every 4 hours until I can make that script more efficient.

If you weren't able to connect to NostrGram since the big update yesterday, try again now. I think I may have discovered why at least a few people couldn't connect. If you are one of them and try, please let me know if you can now connect or not.

Nostr now is a rare gift. I remember when the web was brand new. There were only a few sites, everybody knew everybody, it was a small community of people who appreciated each other and built together. Then it got huge and that disappeared. Nostr is in that birth stage. Enjoy it. It won't last forever, but the memories will. 💜
