FREEDOM OR CONTROL - YOUR SUPPORT SHOWS YOUR CHOICE I saw a long thread discussing another spam attack on Nostr last night. That's not going to stop for free relays. Spammers will always use free services with large audiences to spam. Stopping them is a game of whack-a-mole that even the big Social Media companies have failed to win despite their deep pockets and teams of engineers. The solution is value-for-value: pay for what you use and find valuable. If Nostr benefits you in some way, be willing to pay for the tools you use that provide it to you (relays, clients, etc). If you can't pay but you can build or support it in some other way, that's great, too. I had a person (jokingly I assume) say they were sad I didn't ⚡ them. The first thing that jumped into my mind when I read the note was "What benefit are you providing?" I had never seen any other post from them before. If you want to live in a free world, you need to ask that question often, both of yourself and of others: what benefit are you providing? Because any time you're getting something "free", it's not free. Somebody is paying for it. If that person isn't you, then someone else is setting the agenda for what you consume. Is that what you want? For many, the idea of freedom is like the idea of owning a boat. They daydream about how great it would be to have a boat, take it out on the water, fish, swim and enjoy it all. But they never buy a boat. Why? Because boats cost money and take work to maintain. All that pleasure has a price. Either you're willing to pay it, or you're not. Freedom is no different. I hear a lot of talk about freedom today, and that's good. Freedom of speech is a big one. But what are you doing to support those that are building the tools that give you that freedom? Are you content to daydream about that freedom and how nice it would be while never taking any action, or are you willing to put some skin in the game to turn that dream into a reality both for yourself and others you care about? We've been conditioned to get things for "free", but it's a lie and a trick that's resulted in us selling ourselves and our choices to the highest bidder. For me, Nostr is the path to freedom, but Nostr is not free. It costs money to run the relays, servers and services, and it costs time (which results in lost earning power) to code clients that provide the experience you want and create great content on an ad-free platform. So if you believe in freedom, and I know you do (that's why you're here) then support the builders that are providing value to you. Show that freedom is not just a daydream. Governments and nefarious actors have long taken advantage of the masses just daydreaming about freedom. Let's wake the world up from that dream and make it a reality. This is our shot. Let's not miss the target. My deepest thanks to all of those that are supporting the builders already. You are true heroes. 🙏

If you follow them, they get 1 added to their score, and for each person *you* follow that follows them, they get +0.1 added. This is their "Web of Trust Score" *for you*. For someone else their score will be different based on their connections. Examples: 2. USD VALUE OF ZAPS When you click the ⚡ symbol to make a Lightning payment, the USD value of each amount of sats is now shown (updated hourly). This gives you an idea of how much USD value you're sending when you support somebody. The day will come when Bitcoin is the standard and nobody will care what the USD value is, but for now it can be helpful to know how much purchasing power you're sending. This also saves you the trouble of having to open your Lightning wallet for each amount of sats to see the value. For "Custom Amount", as you type in the number of sats the USD value is updated also. 3. NOSTRPLEBS SPACES IN NOTES #[0] has a service (NostrPlebs Spaces) for live audio discussion. Drop a link to a space into a note and it will embed the space. Pin that note and listen/participate in the space while browsing Nostr! 4. BITCOIN AND SATS SYMBOLS The #Bitcoin hashtag now shows orange with the Bitcoin logo after it, and if you put the word "sats" after a number it's converted to the sats symbol (e.g. 1000 sats). Commas in the number are fine. If there's no number in front of "sats" it's not converted. LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK - WEB OF TRUST SCORE I love the Following+ feed because it pulls from a "web of trust" (the people you follow plus the people *they* follow). It occurred to me that I could show a number that indicates how connected you are to other people that show up in your feed. So, for instance, if you follow somebody the get a "web of trust" score of 1. Then, for each person you follow that also follows them, they get +0.1. So if you follow a profile and 10 people you follow do, too, their score is 2. If 100 people you follow also follow them their score would be 11, etc. I'll display the value as a small overlay on the person's profile pic. This way you can get an instant idea of how connected you are to everyone else you see. Thoughts?

Filthy fiat USD value comparison is live in NostrGram. Refresh for the update. I greyed the USD value so it's not prominent. Useful for quick comparison rather than having to wait for the wallet to pop-up and show you. USD price is updated every hour.

For those who seem concerned that I'm removing the sats from the ⚡ screen, I'm not! It just shows the USD value in small print below it for comparison purposes. Here's what it will look like:

Added a TikTok filter. Click the ellipsis (...) in the menu bar at the top of the page to access it. The All Videos filter now includes TikTok also. However, TikTok videos are slow to load when embedded so you'll need to be patient if you use the TikTok filter.

NOSTRGRAM UPDATE - ZAPs & TIKTOK EMBEDS Time for an update Nogs! NostrGram now supports sending not just Lightning payments/tips but official Zaps (Nostr Kind 9735). It works for all of the wallets I've tested it with (Alby, Wallet of Satoshi, Ln.tips and Zbd) with one caveat: For some reason WoS Zaps aren't getting counted in the number below the ⚡ icon (but the Zaps are going through fine). Working on that. All the rest are working fine. I've also added TikTok video embedding and fixed a number of small bugs. Give it a try at

Ok switched back to my Wallet of Satoshi address. Can someone send a Zap (not just a LN payment but a Kind 9735 Zap) to me and see if it goes through?

Testing Zaps (Kind 9735) on NostrGram. Zapping Alby and Ln.Tips wallets working fine. Wallet of Satoshi isn't working even though it's returning info saying Zaps *should* work. Are Zaps working for anyone else to WOS? I'm wondering if I'm missing something in the code.
