Here's my full main-stage keynote from Nashville
It was spread across two days, so that's why I change halfway through 😂
51 minutes but I worked hard to carefully consider each minute
The talk is packed with lessons and examples that I have learned and seen across my entire career of people using Bitcoin to change the world in the most unlikely of places
I walk through how Bitcoin is a revolution for commerce, freedom, and electric power, citing dozens of examples in each case
This one is for every single person who has ever said Bitcoin is useless, just as much is as it's for every person who is curious about Bitcoin and wants to know more
Most people know that Bitcoin is a great savings technology, which is of course its primary use case, but I don't dwell on that
Here we get into everything else it does
No price talk, all utility
Hope this helps
So grateful for the @Bitcoin Magazine team for giving me this opportunity
Onwards!

Which hardware wallets is the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve going to roll with?
Multi-sig or distributed single-sigs?
What kind of entropy?

Happiness is not what you own, it’s what we share
A beautiful quote and something I feel so deeply
The ovation that so many of you gave me at the end of my keynote in Nashville filled me with enough inspiration for a lifetime
Eternally grateful to be part of this movement
We’re gonna win ✌️

Every time a government official says “bitcoin strategic reserve” —
Drink!
"Louisiana is a leader in bitcoin—banning CBDCs and protecting self-custody. We should continue to lead by having a strategic reserve of bitcoin"
-The governor of Louisiana, just now
I wonder what the average person thinks when they read that in the news
Wild times!
My final slide from my keynote today on the main stage in Nashville
Onwards! ✌️

I was surprised by this
But glad that Bitcoin ownership has a wide ideological base in the USA 🇺🇸

Step 5 is wrong
It’s Bitcoin, not bullets
The collapse (or fading away) of dollar hegemony is inevitable but doesn’t mean chaos
Ending the fiat currency caste system will usher in a new age of global peace and collaboration ✌️

Not having control of your money takes on new meaning in some places: it can be the difference between life and death
In Gaza's "currency desert," people have to try and wait up to 15 days, dodging airstrikes, heatstrokes, and looters simply to withdraw their wages and remittances into cash
There are only 3 working ATMs, and living costs have quadrupled since October 7th. Most people can't access their money anymore and live on handouts
The craziest part: the paper currency that merchants most widely accept in Gaza are Israeli shekels. Meaning, the very notes issued by the state that is currently bombing Palestinians to smithereens
Fiat currency is so irredeemably broken

Fun to see the “tip jar for activists” finally live and in production

There is something wonderfully strange about Bitcoin ATMs like these
Hidden among a bunch of ads, typically for booze or grass or lotto tickets: a real way out
Almost a bit like the Zoltar machine in Big
Something magical hidden among the mundane
A portal to another dimension

Can Bitcoin help end wars and bring world peace?
This investigation into the petrodollar system is the best evidence I've seen for why this might be the case
Read this conclusion, at least, and start to think about what the world would look like if the reserve currency and currency needed to buy oil wasn't owned by one country but rather was an open, neutral, decentralized currency
This would be good for the world and, critically, good for America as we would focus our incredible potential and resources on progress instead of blowing people up

THAT will be the day 😂

Iconic talk by Jaron Lanier
Given in 2018, but you watch it and you realize he could be talking about the current moment and opportunity with nostr
“We cannot have a society in which if two people wish to communicate the only way that can happen is if it’s financed by a third person who wishes to manipulate them”
Amen
“The alternative is to turn back the clock with great difficulty and remake that decision. Remaking it would mean two things. It would mean many people would actually pay for these things. You’d pay for search. You’d pay for social networking. How would you pay? Maybe with a subscription fee. Maybe with micropayments... If some of you are recoiling and saying: oh my god I would never pay for these things, how could you ever get anyone to pay? Well, companies like Netflix, Amazon, and HBO, said subscribe, and we’ll give you great TV. And it worked! Now we’re in peak TV. Sometimes when you pay for stuff things get better. We can imagine a hypothetical world of peak social media"
Amen
And, most powerfully:
“We have to create a culture around technology that is so beautiful, so meaningful, so deep, so endlessly creative, so filled with infinite potential that it draws us away from committing mass suicide”
Amen

Someone just sent me this as a DM
Beautiful! And true. The others will find their way ✌️
“I use Primal as a #bitcoin wallet for my 10-year-old son. He’s too young to sign up for Strike (or any KYC platform). He’s too young to open a bank account. He’s not interested in paper money. He wants digital money so he can buy game stuff online. I pay him his allowance in bitcoin to his Primal account. He doesn’t have to send me an invoice, I just zap him $50 or whatever. Then if he wants to spend on a game, he can request a purchase through the apple App Store, i get a notification first from apple, then i get a notification from Strike saying that he zapped me $5 to cover the cost of the purchase. It’s perfect for someone his age. I couldn’t do this with cash app, PayPal, a credit card, a bank account. NOSTR + Bitcoin is the future. Some of us are living here now. The others will find their way.”
Folks you’re missing out on some big stuff on Farcaster
🤡

Someone I love wrote to me with a Kickstarter project, asking me to back it
I wanted to, but then was hit with the permission wall: sign up, create an account, give us all your information, credit card info, all this stuff
The current web is built in an infuriating way where you can only support those you like through permissioned walls built by rent-seekers posing as "connectors"
So, I didn't proceed, and didn't back them, which sucks
I hope they will join us on Nostr soon so I can back them effortlessly with sound money and no-rent seeking
I think it's just a matter of time ⏳
Made a bet today with a skeptic that Nostr will have more than 1M weekly active users by Jan 31, 2026
We are at ~35k today
That’s about 18 months from now
LFG 🚀
