Hey, I'm doing a thing, yay. I I've been wanting a private home server for years and I finally have the energy to do it. Every Google service I rely on makes me want to die a little bit more inside. I really want to use exclusively decentralized options, but that's a process. So I'm starting with photos on Storj, a crazy cheap decentralized storage system. Using a second phone running a proot'd debian instance on Termux to make a home server. Setting up photo sync with syncthing back to it, which will then store everything on storj, which will be mounted as a directory. Then to connect to my other devices, I'll just use SSHFS to mount that directory to em. And if it all works, I'll have completely transparent access to my photos using any local gallery app I want. And all photos from all my devices will be automatically pushed to the phone server, which will handle pushing new images to storj. so all i gotta set up for a new device is syncthing. sicc af imo.
