I feel like we need to push this nostr concept as far as it can go. FIPS is a way to turn it into a potentially global mesh-network (early stages rn tho). So that takes care of decentralizing ISPs. So what other big centralized services are there? Banks - a relay that runs a fedimint College - you make a shitcoin. your "miners" are your academics, your teachers, your PHDs. they earn tokens through peer-reviewed papers or something. the ones who pay into the system are the students. idkf Email - n o s t r unsolved problems (as far as i know): Search engine? video platform at a scale similar to youtube? - odyssey gives you ownership of your content in the form of an nft, basically. but your content is hosted on their servers cus it's hard to host video in a decentralized way, apparently
@Alex Gleason @Derek Ross @Soapbox Sessions I'm trying to think ahead here about the incentives behind creating a relay. I think it's a pretty good system for relays to ask for a small amount of sats for using it. I'm more concerned about blossom servers. They can't be cheap. Of course we can monetize them too, but eventually that feels distasteful. What if we integrated other decentralized tech in nostr? What if clients could ask the user to make a 1GB or 100MB ipfs node on their phone, have it only connect on wifi, and boom, every user could seed the content. Thoughts? #ditto #feature #storage
