Definitely seem to be hitting limits on Claude Code quicker recently.
And Codex really does seem to be a “better engineer”. And larger context is quite useful in some circumstances
But I “trust” Anthropic more than I do OpenAI..

Developing a small Bitcoin TX classifier using 3 different techniques to experiment with the “best” way to build things:
1) Vanilla Claude Code
2) Claude Code with a custom “mvp-spec-designer” agent
3) OpenAI Codex
Initial thoughts, Codex is much better than when I tried it maybe a fortnight ago, OpenAI catching up?
Primal subscription is for renewal.
At this stage, I’m pretty committed to supporting services that break the shackles of the ad model of the internet (e.g. ❤️ @Kagi )..
And I think nostr is not going anywhere..
..Easy decision!!

One of the things that always worried me when developing commercial closed source software in Australia was the possibility that I’d/we’d be compelled to introduce backdoors by the government.
Wonder how many companies have been compelled to do so in the last few years or so?

Australia data encryption laws explained
Tech firms say the controversial laws could weaken overall security for users of messenger apps.
Can’t believe I only learned about `.git/info/exclude` just now..
No more mistakenly committing random personal files to repos and not needing to `.gitignore` to accomplish this!
Is it “bad” that I don’t even mention nostr to my normie friends?
Most of them aren’t even twitter users, so I feel like they are too far removed from being able to appreciate nostr.
So I have to file my first BAS/activity statement today and, naturally, I decided to vibe a web app to help me do this.
It’s a completely private & self-hosted solution that uses OCR and an LLM to process invoices/receipts, bank statements etc, and can then generate the BAS/activity statement for you.
I decided to build this because I’ll have to file these every quarter, and instead of:
a) handing all my documents over to someone else to prepare for me, and paying for the service
b) doing this manually
I can now build and tweak my own system and have full control over how it works, privacy of my information, and am well along the path to having this (new) aspect of my life automated away.
In doing this I’ve opted not to use my accountant, who handles my personal income tax and would have been the obvious choice otherwise, and I’ll probably drop them entirely and either extend this software or build a new product to help with preparing my income tax.
So the AI has taken their job 😱

For all the doomerism and gloom, feels to me like we’re entering a technology golden age
If you’ve got enough curiosity and drive “you can just do it” (pretty much)
