As noted, moving our dog to a real food diet. going pretty well, but moving pretty quickly towards homemade fresh foods. Still keeping up appearances with the wife by feeding him some FreshPet garbage when she's around, but completely off the dry kibble since last week.
Noticed urine production is way up; not surprising, because obviously higher water content in real food. He apparently had a couple accidents last night, though - wife is not happy. Any suggestions to help?

Disagreeable. Prove me wrong.
Looking into buying a grinder and feeding my dog home-prepared foot. Any good resources out there?
There should come a time in each person's life when there is a shift of focus from making your parent(s) proud to making your children proud.
You may never feel like you've met their expectations, but you have, just as they have met yours.
You might think the shift would come when you have children; for some this is so, for others it may happen later, or not at all.
But it can always come today, if you wish it to do so.

Math works as long as you assume the numbers are just conceptual. Once numbers are mapped onto physical things, a lot of math just fails to model perceived reality. You can't actually have negative something. Most things can't be divided, and even if they can, don't divide evenly. Multiplication applies to fungible objects and little else. Imaginary numbers are, well, imaginary.
This isn't to say that complex math models are useless, just that the models may not work as expected when applied to the stuff that matters.
Tomorrow is going to be a very special day.
My son turns 15. Also, I will be quitting cigarettes and donuts.
I've been on bupropion since July 1. That should be long enough for it to give me as much help as it can. I've used it before to help, so I *know* it can.
Today I went and bought a couple bags of pork rinds (I actually don't eat these very often, probably been months since my last, but I want something around in case a craving comes along that they can get me past.)
I also bought a dozen donuts. Not just any donuts, but the chocolatey-est filled-est ones I could get. No, they aren't good for me. I'm basically poisoning myself, gorging on chemical trash. But after tomorrow, no more donuts. Not even once in a while. Done. Those were the last thing that would really cause me to break my ketogenic routine - and while I wouldn't have them all the time, maybe once every week or two, that is still more poison than I wish to allow.
I have one more pack of smokes left. Should finish that sometime tomorrow. 4 donuts left, not sure if those will make it to tomorrow.
After all that poison is gone, I will start counting hours. I will count hours until I can count days. I will count days until I can count weeks. If my past is any indication, I don't expect this to all work the first time. I may need to reset my counting a few times to get it right, but I know I can lose a few battles and still win the war.
So here, now. My why. So I can look back at this when I need to. I do not want to have high blood pressure. I do not want to have pattern B cholesterol. This is what I believe I need to do to fix these problems. Doing this will get me through the weight loss (another 60 lbs) that I need to feel I even have a shot at reversing these two issues. I will not be taking blood pressure or cholesterol medication. I can do this by modifying my lifestyle.
That is my positive affirmation of the conviction I have in my ability to change. Stay with me friends, and I will continue to be right here with all of you.

Every truth has boundaries. For example, some truths are only true in a vacuum. Others are only true within 3-dimensional space. Still others depend on time, or on the assumption that stimulus precedes action.
This is not to say they are not true, only that they are true given certain conditions. It then becomes a question of how applicable they are, i.e. whether the conditions they depend on exist in their application.
For instance, I may be able to say that 2+2=5, but I wouldn't want build a skyscraper or even a shed based on that math. The boundaries of math exist just fine in what we observe as the material world, and apply well to operating in that world.
But that isn't the same as saying 2+2=5 couldn't also work, given that the definitions and boundaries of that truth also exist in and apply well to the material world.
In any quest for universal or specific truth, it is imperative to determine the boundaries (or limits) of that truth, regardless of how "implied" one assumes them to be.

Terrence Howard can probably only be understood if one does NOT believe that reality is how science describes it, and is instead based entirely on energy, waves, and fields. Then it makes a ton of sense.
The outrage and debunking reaction videos out there (that I have seen) all come from people solidly in the fiat science camp. It is well past time to move beyond that and find new ways to test new hypotheses that at first may sound completely wrong. That is science freed from fiat.
I'm thinking (do not believe this with any real conviction yet) that our brains do not contain our emotion or our knowledge. Instead they operate as an interface with knowledge and emotion, among other things. This explains why brains "light up" when triggered in certain ways, and I am not saying that we can "live" without them.
The knowledge and emotion they connect with are not definitively ours, but they are "personalized" for us, so we may consider them our own, even if we do not possess them.
This abstraction doesn't actually change much. Just a diversion, I suppose.
GN, maybe.
Started to unfollow devs and bitcoin ppl. Curating my feed a bit, and nostr works for me, so does bitcoin. Nothing personal, and I figure anything really significant they have to say will still show up in my feed because one of the lesser non-elites will reply or repost anyway, and that is how my client builds my feed. Kind of like using a social graph as an effective filter, and curating based on the choices of others rather than by personality or influence. That said, I also avoid following compulsive re-posters, and have done so for a while.
I don't believe for a second that any of the big accounts give two fucks what I am thinking or spewing on here anyway, as it almost never involves them. And if they do, they are free to follow me. I don't block or report people, as far as I recall. I don't know if my client even has the ability to block, and also don't care.
Thoughts stemming from earlier idea that matter is information persisting in energy...
Also read an article in Vox about panpsychism.
I think these work well together, but let's not worry about whether or not electrons have consciousness.
My concept could consider consciousness as an expression of energy, similar to how I might consider light or magnetism. I think my concept of energy may be more similar to earlier concepts of ether, and much broader than current sciences based on materialism would allow for.
I'm really seeing "energy" as the primary construct of "reality", rather than matter. Matter is an expression of energy, as would be light, consciousness, emotion, and anything else observable by humans. Energy can be expressed as waves, or more completely, a field of waves, permeating the observable universe. Objects (like planets, or a chair) are still just information stored, but still can have all other expressions of energy present as they are a part of it, rather than separate from it or acted on by it.

Newest crazy-as-shit idea... (sort of previewed this earlier, but I like it more and more all the time)
Matter is information encoded to persist in an energy field.
And yes, every noun and adjective in that sentence probably need to be (re)defined, because of how incomplete our current understanding is.
The more I listen to Terrence Howard, the more I want to agree with him, based on all I have come to understand about the nature of "reality" and the most ancient cosmology I could find (Vedic).
It is interesting (in his conversation with Eric Weinstein) that some things Terrence is saying have only recently been accepted by "science", and while many other things Terrence claims may yet become accepted, but are considered patently false today.
I've become pretty convinced that we have currently got it all wrong. Space, matter, energy, forces, dimensions, really all of it. I'm not claiming to have all the answers, but I will likely spend the rest of my life searching for them. I'm not saying Terrence is right or wrong, but he's probably further down the path to understanding than I am.
A little scary, but trying to move back to being paid in bitcoin.
It's going to take a little work, but I have the budget flexibility to do it right now, and I don't want to miss out on the volatility over the next couple years. This could also be the only way I get to my next stacking goal anytime soon.

What is Strike currently required to report on to the gov cabal? Obviously, they report all buy/sell transactions of Bitcoin.
What I am interested in are reports of transfers (on-chain, lightning, and $USD), and the current thresholds for reporting a transaction of each.
There's been plenty of legislation mentioned over the past several years, and I want to know the current rules of the game.
So I have this helium miner (basically a RockPi with a LoRa antenna, I think) and even when I bought it, I figured I would eventually repurpose it into a Bitcoin node or something.
Anyone have any creative ideas for repurposing it? I don't even know what to do with a LoRa antenna. I can get more details on exactly what antennas are connected, I think one is WiFi, one in LoRa.
When I bought 25 lbs of roasts, I had no intention of keeping it as roasts. Instead, sharpened up my butcher knife, and sectioned and butterflied them into steak-sized portions. Then repackaged, and into the freezer, keeping a few lbs out for the next few days.
Inevitably, there are some scraps left over. And I don't trim additional fat, so the scraps are mostly muscle. The first round of scraps went to my dog. The second round? Just became a treat for me. Nothing wrong with a little fresh raw beef occasionally. I don't regularly eat raw, but no issues if it is fresh and a relatively small amount. Our portions were between 1-2 oz each.
I actually really enjoy the fact that most anything I eat, I can share with my dog. I haven't gotten him off the kibble yet, but I plan on it. Just need a big grinder to process the chicken.

Went to the store for my weekly shopping early because it's hot out. They had London broil value packs for $3.99/lb (limit 4 packs), and chuck roast $5.39/lb. Ground beef also on sale $3.99/lb. Ended up buying 29.5 lbs of beef, total cost $133.50, average price per lb is $4.49. Even if I eat 2 lbs/day, which is a little more than average, I'm eating for $9/day. That is at least 2 weeks worth of meat, probably closer to 3 weeks, because I probably average closer to 1.5 lbs per day.
How many Americans eat for less than $10/day? $15? #carnivore is not expensive, quite the opposite.

Today my company decided to lay off 14% of its global workforce. The cuts went from VP level all the way down to the workers. I think the math works out to about 2200 families lost their primary income today.
I was among the 86% that still have a job to go to. I expected this, and was prepared either way - but I have also been making moves over the past 2-3 years that would increase my chances of being chosen to stay.
I expect there will be a lot of opportunities that arise over the next few months of reorganization. I'm also ready to take advantage of those.
Don't be complacent. Fiat mining doesn't reward complacency.
(In good news, my old nemesis, the boss of my former boss, got the axe. So did her boss. No fucks given here)
