Motivation and discipline are two distinct forces that drive action, and understanding their differences can help you harness them effectively. Motivation is the spark—the emotional or psychological push that gets you started. It’s fueled by desire, inspiration, or a goal that excites you, like wanting to get fit because you saw an inspiring transformation story. It’s powerful but fleeting; it waxes and wanes based on how you feel, external circumstances, or immediate rewards. Relying solely on motivation is like waiting for the wind to blow your sails—it’s unreliable. Discipline, on the other hand, is the steady engine. It’s the commitment to show up and act, even when the initial excitement fades or when you’d rather stay in bed. It’s built through habits, routines, and a focus on the bigger picture, like exercising daily because you’ve decided it’s non-negotiable, not because you feel like it. Discipline doesn’t care about your mood—it’s the “do it anyway” mindset. In practice, motivation might kickstart a project, but discipline carries you through when the novelty wears off. For example, writing a book starts with a burst of enthusiasm, but finishing it requires sitting down every day, regardless of inspiration. Studies, like those from the American Psychological Association, suggest that self-discipline outpredicts even IQ in determining long-term success, because it’s the ability to stick with something that matters most. The catch? Discipline isn’t sexy—it’s gritty, repetitive, and often unglamorous. Motivation feels good but burns out. The trick is using motivation to ignite action, then leaning on discipline to sustain it. Build systems—like setting a fixed workout time or blocking distractions—so discipline becomes automatic. That way, you’re not at the mercy of fleeting feelings. image

No matter how hopeless and bleak your financial situation is, never give up. Here's my own personal story and a peek into my past. Let's rewind back to 2011, I was 5 years into a drug and drinking problem, got a DUI, went to prison and when I got out I was over $30k in debt due to fines, lawyer fees etc. I had to move back into my dad's house and the drug problem continued. By 2013 most of my friends were dead from drug overdoses, or in prison and I was still $25k in debt. I realized I was going to end up dead or in prison as well if I didn't make a change. I managed to find myself an efficiency apartment I could afford, and the local fire department was gracious enough to give me a chance since my prison record was only DUI related. I worked full time, and on evenings and weekends I went to fire school for an entire summer (till I was interior certified), helped with fundraisers, and started paying off my debt. Being on the flip side of drugs was a sobering experience, most of the medical calls we ran were fentanyl overdoses and it was eye opening to see the devastation drugs caused the immediate family members of the addicted individual, I witnessed more death in one year than most people will experience in their entire lives. Surrounding myself with a new group of friends from the fire dept and staying busy by working and volunteering 24/7 was enough to keep me out of trouble. By 2016 my debt was finally paid off and I actually had several grand in savings but never thought I'd be able to retire due to understanding how rampantly out of control inflation was, I was looking into gold, real estate etc. to figure out where I could start parking my money, but nothing seemed to be the perfect solution. Then one day in early summer of 2017 I discovered Bitcoin while watching a documentary on the silk road. I was immediately fascinated. I studied it for a couple weeks and finally pulled the trigger making my first purchases 2 weeks before the fork wars kicked into full gear. I was unsure if I made the right decision at the time, my friends laughed at me, and my family was concerned I fell victim to a Ponzi scheme, but I didn't let any criticism dissuade me. Then came the euphoric pump to $20k, I felt vindicated till the price collapsed and I received even more mockery for not selling. This rinse and repeat happened for another full cycle, but I had made up my mind that I was riding my #Bitcoin stack to zero or to a million. With each passing year my conviction only grew stronger as my knowledge on the topic increased. Fast forward to present day and I have a higher net worth then the average median retiree and I'm only in my mid 30s. Thanks to #Bitcoin and the grace of God, I not only have my life back on track, but I'm looking at retiring a couple decades early which will allow me to pursue my true passions. If you made it this far, I appreciate your time and hope this can inspire even one person who feels like their situation is hopeless. Getting yourself out of a deep hole when the odds are stacked against you isn't easy, but nothing is impossible and it gets easier with each passing day. I wish you all the best of luck in your own individual journeys through life. Keep stacking Bitcoin and with time, you will be rewarded. Tick tock next block 😉

In “The Bitcoin Entanglement” from The Big Bang Theory Season 11, Leonard, Howard, and Raj realize they mined Bitcoin worth $5,000 in 2010, but Sheldon hid it on a flash drive Leonard lost, which Stuart later found and planned to wipe, leaving them with nothing.

In The Big Bang Theory, Bitcoin is featured in Season 11, Episode 9, titled “The Bitcoin Entanglement,” which aired on November 30, 2017. The plot revolves around Leonard, Howard, and Raj realizing that seven years earlier (around 2010), they mined Bitcoin using Howard’s old laptop. At the time of the episode, they note that a single Bitcoin is worth about $5,000—a figure that reflects Bitcoin’s value earlier in 2017, though by the air date, it had risen to around $10,000. The story unfolds with the group trying to recover their lost cryptocurrency. Flashbacks show that Sheldon was initially part of the Bitcoin mining plan but was excluded by the others due to his concerns about tax implications and his typical overbearing nature. In revenge, Sheldon later secretly transferred the Bitcoin from Leonard’s laptop to a Batman flash drive on Leonard’s keychain. The twist comes when Leonard reveals he lost the flash drive years ago. A final flashback shows Stuart finding it in his comic book store and planning to wipe it and sell it for $10, unaware of its valuable contents. As a result, no one ends up with the Bitcoin. The episode mixes humor with nostalgia, using flashbacks to revisit the characters’ lives seven years prior, while also poking fun at the idea of a lost fortune in a then-emerging technology. It’s a lighthearted take on Bitcoin’s rise in mainstream awareness, though some details—like the ease of mining multiple Bitcoins in seconds on a basic laptop in 2010—are exaggerated for comedic effect. Today, with Bitcoin’s price far exceeding $5,000 (as of March 23, 2025, it’s significantly higher), the episode serves as a funny time capsule of crypto’s early pop culture moment.

The morning hums a quiet tune,Steam curls up beneath the moon,“Treat me for a cup of coffee,” you say,A warm escape to start the day. Beans that whisper tales of earth,Roasted slow, a second birth,In every sip, a fleeting glow,A simple joy to steal and stow. So here’s your brew, this line I pour,A moment’s peace, and something more,The world can wait, the rush can slow,With coffee’s warmth, let kindness grow. image

From shadows born, a rebel’s code,Bitcoin flows where freedom rode.No walls of stone, no greedy hands,It breaks the chains of banking lands. The ledger sings, unowned, untamed,A people’s coin, no master claimed. While banks in towers hoard their gold,Bitcoin’s tale is fiercely told. No interest traps, no hidden fees,It sails beyond their treasuries.A storm of bits, a silent roar,To shake the vaults and even scores. The suits in suits, they scheme and fight,But crypto burns through endless night.Decentralized, it stands alone,A throne to topple banker’s stone. The future hums in every block,A ticking clock, a turning lock.Against the corrupt, it takes its stand,Power returned to every hand. image
