Any advice on how to make friends on nostr? I’m a techie that never was big on social media. However, it’s been difficult to find people who care about things like freedom tech in my offline interactions. My current experience of posting on nostr feels like shouting into a void. Any advice for how to make meaningful connections for a social media newbie would be greatly appreciated. #asknostr

Currently playing SMTIV in Japanese. Curious if any other Japanese language learners on Nostr playing this game or some other rpg. #smt #smtiv #languagelearning #japanese #jrpg

Anyone here have a ZSA Voyager? I’m curious how comfortable it is to use the num row on it. I’m used to using layers for numrow access (via miryoku layout) on small keyboards like the Planck and Kyria but I’m wondering if I should just embrace the extra row. #MechanicalKeyboard

I am relatively new to using Nostr and wanted to know if anyone had any advice on how you track zap records for tax reporting purposes. I’m based in USA and the IRS FAQ on digital currency seems to indicate that Lightning based gifts are taxable when later used to pay for goods and services. @DETERMINISTIC OPTIMISM 🌞 is the password manager capability already available on coldcards? I’ve heard you mention it during a past podcast but haven’t seen anything about it in the docs.

Why do you want to be able to speak in Japanese? It’s because I want to have meaningful experiences with Japanese people. Of course, I could speak with them in English but there will be a slight distance between us. Depending on how comfortable they are with English, as they think about the appropriate response, it will be difficult for them to be in the moment. One the other hand, if I speak in Japanese, they can relax and enjoy the moment. My other reason for wanting to speak Japanese is because I want to experience thinking in another language besides my native tongue. #japanese #language #blog

疲れたけど、眠たくない。仕事ばかりしていたので、楽しいことをしたい。でも、自分のセルフ・ケアにとって、早く起きるのは必要だよね。だから、がんばって眠るようにする。 I’m tired but I don’t want to sleep. I worked all day so I want to have some fun. However, waking up early is essential for my self-care so I’m going to try to sleep. #language #japanstr #japanese #sleep

For those who zap, how are you keeping up with your cost basis and transaction records for tax reporting?

#[0] , do you have any thoughts on how to approach tracking cost basis and record keeping in a way that preserves privacy while remaining compliant with tax law? Using something like crypto.com would be easier than spreadsheets for tracking cost basis but is a potential privacy risk . On the IRS side of things, using specific identifier for cost basis instead of FIFO can reduce tax liability, but to use it you must either specify transaction Id, public key, private key, or have sufficient record keeping. Clearly, all but record keeping is a no go from a privacy and security perspective. However, it’s unclear what is “sufficient” record keeping and how to do it in a manner that is as private as possible while holding up to audit level scrutiny.
