God desires all men to be saved.
That’s not Calvinism.

Government doesn’t protect us from domination. Government institutionalizes domination, gives it laws, uniforms, borders, prisons, taxes, and a bureaucracy, then teaches us to call the whole arrangement civilization.

Mike Brant:
“Corruption runs so deep in DC that Democrats and Republicans will not prosecute any politicians for fear their own crimes will be revealed.”

Bingo.
“And I thought, ‘After she has done all this she will return to me,’ but she did not return.”
— Jeremiah 3:7
If He already knew she wouldn’t, that isn’t what “I thought” means.
If “I thought” means what it says, the outcome wasn’t settled.
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
James does not leave that hanging. He names Elijah—a man of like passions as we are. Elijah prayed that it would not rain, and it did not rain for three years and six months. He prayed again, and the heaven gave rain.
Two prayers. Two different outcomes.
“You do not have, because you do not ask.” (James 4:2)
Moses stood in the breach, and the destruction stopped (Exodus 32).
Nineveh turned, and the disaster God announced was withheld (Jonah 3).
Hezekiah wept, and fifteen years were added (2 Kings 20).
Abraham bargained, and the number required to spare the city moved.
They spoke. Then the story changed.
That is what “availeth much” means. A righteous man prays *now*, and what happens next is not the same as if he had stayed silent.
If prayer avails much, the future is not already written.
