How perfect that we can bring back the term paste eaters for people who listen to the output of chatbots.

These bluesky blog posts spend more time talking about mastodon than bluesky.

Gonna refer to bluesky as jackstodon from now on.

Man, banning social media for kids under 16 is going to be fucking hell for the one kid who's a few months younger in their grade. Like being the last kid to learn to drive, and slowly watching all your friends go out without you, but literally never getting invited to the party because it's illegal to send you an invitation.

So I think when lemmy bans a user from the server, it doesn't notify others. (There is a block sent, but only when banned from a single group.) There was a huge (like ten posts) spam attack, and the naughty people got banned from the server hosting the group, but I didn't get the memo.

Starting a war of useless pedantry on the term facial recognition. Well, actually, it's facial identification. Facial recognition is what your camera does for auto focus.

Funny thing that lemmy does: if you create a post with an image but no link, a link to the image will be added when federating. But not on the origin. And the url is different for some reason.See: @npub1u6sv...fj0e which appears as a link to a jpeg bbf-b25 on lemmygrad.ml. But: Open that post, @npub1cn4k...qxq0, and the jpeg is f80-2ba, and the link is gone. It's a normal self post. This has bugged me for some time, I don't like seeing the images appear as links, and wandered how they dealt with it. Short answer: nope. It displays wrong on every federated instance because it's the AP object that's bugged. The two jpegs are byte wise identical, just different URLs.

Hmm, got another unexpected scenario in the lemmyverse. Delete of a comment, not by the author, not by a group mod, but apparently forwarded by the group actor? Or not? Unfortunately lost some of details about how the activity arrived. Rejected as unauthorized, but apparently lemmy processes it.

Should it be legal to make a browser that implements nonstandard features?

Has anybody ever made a website that used both <b> and <strong> (or <i> and <em>) on the same page for different purposes? (Other than the MDN page telling you that they're different elements.)

Okay, the new world order of shadowverse hashtags is here. No longer are we limited to ugly pound signs invading our beautiful prose. New slim and trim hashtags are only in the ActivityPub object, not the html content.

Does any activitypub implementation show delivery failures to users? Obviously it would be annoying for every post since servers come and go and you very likely don't care at all. But you reply and mention someone, and they never get it, and you wonder why you're shouting into the void? I guess that's a feature.Checking my log, seems there's a few people trying to message me, but it's not accepted. Better luck, tomorrow!
