⚡️‼️ NEW - A leaked draft shows the Irish EU Council Presidency is proposing a complete sell-off of European data. They want to write into the GDPR that companies may use Europeans' personal data to build and run AI as a "legitimate interest", with no consent needed. Europe spent eight years fining Big Tech over EU citizens' data. And now they want to let companies feed it into AI without asking. The proposal puts the profits of Big Tech ahead of Europeans' fundamental right to data protection. It also deletes the "unconditional right to object."

⚡️🎮 ICYMI - Microsoft wants to show you ads in games, timed to the moments when you're not playing It has filed a patent application for a system that reads game-engine data to find natural breaks, like right after a boss fight, at a checkpoint, on a loading screen or in a menu. The game then pauses and plays a video or static ad. After each ad, you get a new ad-free "credit," 30 minutes in the patent's example. When it runs out, the game starts looking for your next break. The filing targets free-to-play games but names no specific titles, and a patent application doesn't guarantee it ever ships.

⚡️💻 FUN FACT - Someone managed to mine Bitcoin using a 1983 Apple II with only 64 KB of RAM… but it would take about 256,000 billion years to even hope to find a block. The developer adapted SHA-256 to the computer, which was equipped with an 8-bit processor running at just 1 MHz, even though the Bitcoin algorithm relies primarily on 32-bit operations. With the help of programmer Peter Ferrie to optimize the code, the machine finally managed to achieve the phenomenal processing power of… 3.8 hashes per second. A modern Mac would retrieve the mining work and transmit it to the Apple II via a serial connection, while a huge pixelated Bitcoin logo would spin on the screen whenever a new task arrived. On average, it would take about 256,000 billion years to find a single block, and the theoretical cost of electricity would have far exceeded any conceivable reward. image

⚡️🇮🇷 NEW - Iran's Security Council Secretary Rezaei: Trump greatly underestimated Iran. Today, nobody considers America’s war with Iran to be a rational or logical war. Everyone describes it as a stupid war, and I want to add another word to that: ignorant. America’s military, economic and political actions were not based on any precise assessment or accurate calculations. They were carried out entirely at the instigation of Israel and Netanyahu personally.

⚡️🧊 FUN FACT - Bitcoin’s source code is stored in the Arctic permafrost… in an archive designed to last 1,000 years. In 2020, GitHub selected active public repositories from numerous open-source projects for its Arctic Code Vault. In total, approximately 21 terabytes of data were recorded on 186 reels of archival film and then transported to Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago located in the Arctic. Among the projects preserved was Bitcoin’s source code, alongside Linux and Python, among others. On July 8, 2020, these archives were deposited in a former coal mine buried deep within the mountain and protected by permafrost. The goal was to create a physical backup capable of remaining readable for centuries, even if the platforms and technologies used today were to eventually disappear. Obviously, it is neither users’ BTC nor their private keys that are stored beneath the Arctic. It is something different… the instructions that explain how Bitcoin works.
