The attacker’s largest consolidation address, holding 562 BTC, received a dust transaction containing an OP_RETURN message advertising laundering services for a 10% cut. The sender spent 0.002347 BTC, sent just 1,590 sats to the attacker and returned the rest to a change address. The ad cost roughly $1.30. The OP_Return message includes the Telegram handle of whoever sent the solicitation, which I will not publish. There is also no proof the advertised account is authentic. Most importantly, the stolen bitcoin still has not moved. This was someone approaching the attacker, not evidence the attacker is already laundering the funds.

⚡️‼️ NEW - Coldcard bug may have been caused by a compiler workaround. A new technical analysis by Core-Lightning dev ddustin suggests the 2021 COLDCARD vulnerability may have started while a developer was trying to connect three layers of the firmware: the wallet’s Python code, MicroPython’s C code, and the STM32 hardware random number generator. The custom code appears to have conflicted with MicroPython’s existing implementation, likely triggering a compiler error. The evidence suggests the developer then disabled the hardware RNG by setting MICROPY_HW_ENABLE_RNG to 0, allowing the firmware to compile. That change had an unintended consequence. When users created new wallets, the firmware no longer used the hardware random number generator. Instead, it fell back to MicroPython’s much weaker Yasmarang software random number generator. The commit message left by the dev was just the word “runs.” The analysis argues this is a reminder that developers should never ship security-critical code they don’t fully understand, especially when it protects billions of dollars in Bitcoin. That speaks volumes about the professionalism and reliability of the company behind it.

Snapchat's AI scanned the private message. flagged it as a potential threat. automatically reported it to the FBI. the FBI forwarded it to local law enforcement. deputies arrived at the school within the hour. she cooperated immediately. handed over her phone. when shown the message she said: "oh yes. okay. yeah. i'm realizing that was a bad joke. i did not mean it at all serious at all." police determined she was not a threat. school officials determined she was not a threat. prosecutors reviewed and issued a disorderly conduct charge. she was released the next morning. she lost her student teaching placement. This means: Snapchat scans private messages. Not just public posts or stories. private group chats between you and your closest contacts. automated AI. no human reviewed it first, got flagged and reported. Snapchat AI → FBI → local police → school → arrest. in under an hour. Snapchat's privacy policy says it may share your information with law enforcement when it believes there is a risk of harm. the definition of "risk of harm" is determined by an algorithm. you are not told when a message is flagged. you are not told when a report is filed. you find out when the police arrive. the message was private. it wasn't.
