This was a great episode if you want to get a pulse on where decentralized music is now and where it's going. The Doerfels family are very talent musicians, running nodes, self hosting, live streaming from their home studio and doing these kind of interviews. If your cassette deck is screaming at you or making an odd sound, really scrub those pinch rollers. Most people think the tape is pulled from the rotating sprockets -- it's not. The capstan and the pinch rollers pull the tape at a (somewhat) constant speed. You gotta get in there and really scrub those rollers. The heads will also collect rust of course, but I see a lot of neglected rollers.

I've heard now multiple people complain about AI slop on wavlake. It's even a bigger problem on spotify too. Everyone wants to solve music discovery with some new platform or protocol. I thought your relay information was stored in your profile? I loaded noStreudelForYou and it didn't have the mostr relays? This happens too in ham radio so I'm used to this kind of user experience. I will be using one radio and it works fine and pick up another and all my settings are gone.

I made this with the 424 tape machine yesterday. I had not used it in a while and it was getting dusty. I performed this poem live but couldn't play the trumpet and talk at the same time, so thanks to cassette technology, this is possible! It's a very nice analog flow on the 4 track. There is a blemish of a note I have, but I really like how 99% of the sound came out and it's a bit difficult to fix just that one note. But I prefer this flow sometimes.
