GM Nostr! 💜☀️ After having spent about a week learning about how #Nostr works, I feel it’s time to change things up and add more about myself (without giving away too much of my own privacy). About me: • #Fitness, #health and #wellness are a few of my biggest passions and I love to educate others on how they can become better a version of themselves hence why I decided to become a doctor of physical therapy (DPT) • Avid #pickleball competitor since the early 2020 and not even covid could stop me from being out there playing with every fiber of my being. Humbly consider myself in between 3.5 - 4.0 skill level • Since the age of 2, I was diagnosed with bilateral, progressive severe-to-profound hearing loss. Currently wear hearing aids, have high level lip-reading proficiency in speech comprehension, and speak orally really well despite all odds. Technically speaking, I am considered hard-of-hearing and/or deaf with a lowercase “d” since I do not communicate via sign language • I like learning about #Bitcoin, Nostr, and #Monero. I personally feel these three, as #decentralized protocols and #proofofwork assets, are insanely valuable in their standalone right with its specific use cases. I can’t help but think we are quite literally on the brink of !unfathomable! change from our current, obsolete global financial system, and as @Lyn Alden says: “nothing will stop this train”. GM Nostr! It’s #FitnessFriday I bet y’all are now winding down from a busy week into a relaxing weekend. As you should! But let’s make sure we keep our metabolism in slow-burner mode before kicking back & binge watching your favorite shows & snacks (..any House M.D. fans out there!?) Fitness Friday can look like this: • Take a 30-minute walk around the block • Do a set (or 3!) of 10 pushups, 20 squats, and 30 lunges • Dance to your favorite song for 10 minutes straight (DJ BL3ND is my go-to) • Eat a balanced meal with plenty of fruits and veggies • Try 10-15 minutes of yoga or stretching to unwind • Drink at least 8 glasses of water throughout the day • Take the stairs instead of the elevator at work or in your home If y’all have any questions or need clarification, leave a comment below! Throwback Thursday: PT Myth-Busting Let's debunk some common myths and misconceptions about physical therapy: Myth #1: Physical therapy is only for injuries or post-surgery. Reality: PT can help with chronic pain management, improve mobility, and even prevent injuries from happening in the first place. Performance-based physical therapy is a real thing and can be implemented into your daily/weekly routine to reduce the risk of future injuries! Myth #2: You need a doctor's referral to see a physical therapist. Reality: Not always. While some insurance plans may require a referral, many states in the US have direct access laws that allow you to see a PT without a doctor's note. Myth #3: Physical therapy is just a bunch of exercises I can do on my own. Reality: While exercise is a part of PT, a licensed physical therapist will work with you to create a customized plan that addresses your specific needs and goals. Myth #4: Physical therapy is only for older adults or athletes. Reality: PT can benefit anyone, regardless of age or fitness level.
