From Atlas Shrugged:
"I mean that there is no way to disarm any man," said Dr. Ferris, "except through guilt. Through that which he himself has accepted as guilt. If a man has ever stolen a dime, you can impose on him the punishment intended for a bank robber and he will take it. He'll bear any form of misery, he'll feel that he deserves no better. If there's not enough guilt in the world, we must create it. If we teach a man that it's evil to look at spring flowers and he believes us and then does it —we'll be able to do whatever we please with him. He won't defend himself. He won't feel he's worth it. He won't fight. But save us from the man who lives up to his own- standards. Save us from the man of clean conscience. He's the man who'll beat us."

Behavioral psychology and other stuff.
I'm looking forward to LLMs specializing in plowing through pages and pages of legalese, and succinctly summarizing in plain English all the ways the contract/agreement aims to screw you over.
Interesting project.
I’ve now read a couple books on cognitive behavior therapy. Allow me to distill their advice in one sentence:
Face your fears.

My #psychology article on seed phrase memorization is now on habla.news Let me know if you would like to see more or have questions.
Abstract:
I have two goals for this article. 1) Show how you can easily memorize a 12 or 24 seed word using only pen and paper. 2) Demonstrate some general principles of learning that you can apply to almost any skill.
When I hear the phrase "opt out", I sometimes think of this scene from Merlin:
What disappears are, among other things, state-funded journalists and academics.
Watch out for the fakes:

My taste in music:
Haven't been active here for a little while. Been pre-occupied with adjusting to my switch to Fedora and i3.
However, I have been gathering more data on seed phrase memorization. Will post more on that relatively soon.

A simple way to memorize a 24 word seed.
Write your words like this:
Cover up all words with a paper and slide it to the right, revealing 4 words at a time. Only work with groups of 8 words at the time, as indicated by the vertical lines. For each group, try saying the next 4 words in your head before revealing them. If you can't, reveal them anyway by moving the paper, say them, and then cover up all words in the group of 8 again. You will likely have to move the paper back and fourth a lot during the first practice round.
Do 3 trials a day – not more, cramming is a waste of time. One trial means that you have worked with each group of 8 until you have recalled the words just once when covered up by the paper. The first trial should take less than 3 minutes if done right! Speed will grow proportionally from that. You want to be able to remember the words at least as fast as you are able to read them.
I'm still doing some testing and will provide more data later. The preliminary results suggests that total practice time should be less than 15 minutes if spread out over a week.
Note: I'm not suggesting that anyone only store their seed in memory. I view this as one backup among several, and whether it's a good idea to memorize a seed depends on personal circumstances.

Horrible OpSec, but I can't resist sometimes.

Here's something I've found helpful for staying focused. I divide up the day into different 'time zones' or windows where I'm only allowed to use the computer for certain tasks. Each window is signaled by a different desktop background.
For example, I have a two-hour window in the morning where I'm only allowed to use my computer for creating stuff – writing, coding, and so on. In that window, I use this background:

I'm just going to shill F-Droid today. Wanted a pedometer app without tracking or ads. Easy! This is just one example. Sure, the app selection is smaller, but there's a lot of good stuff there.
