Vision Statement for The Sangha Treasury's project of a home for lay and ordained Tibetan Buddhist women It is difficult to express in words what we envision this project to blossom out into. We are presently about one dozen lay and monastic Tibetan Buddhist practitioners scattered around the globe- Russia, Slovenia, Ireland, England, Australia and the US. We are looking to establish an actual physical residence where we can all gather together, practice together and live together. And as well, offer service to the local community wherever we settle. As bodhisattvas in training, we recognize the fundamental importance of giving the medicine of the Dharma to a world currently in dire need. We are witnessing very challenging times all around the planet - environmental, political, economic and social upheavals like.never seen before. We deeply wish to be able to offer very specific skills to help our fellow brothers ad sisters cope with the various challenges that may come their way. Meditation and mindfulness skills. Teachings into the true nature of our internal and external landscapes. Both what the Buddha historically taught and other great teachers throughout history have taught. As Atisha, the Bengali pandit, once said " Emptiness is the best protection. " Not firearms or bombs. Not conventional financial institutions. Not reliance on our various governments to fix things. The need to create alternative social structures is now more pressing than ever. Current social structures are no longer viable for the long term - capitalist, hierarchical, patriarchal, self-centered. Our aim is to build a sanctuary where we can transform our Buddhist practice into an indestructible jewel that can light the way to freedom for all those we come into contact with in person and online. We envision living off the grid, growing our own food for ourselves and to share locally with those in need. In the future we hope to hope to become a refuge for women in crisis - domestic violence, homelessness, sexual violence and mental health problems. With a physical residence we will be then able be able offer regular classes for any one who's interested in learning the life skills of meditation, mindfulness and the teachings of the Buddha. We have nuns and lay women skilled as chaplains, counselors, writers, linguists, teachers, gardeners, herbalists, meditation instructors.
