nostr doesn’t need to run like a daemon in your head. feeds can eat whole afternoons before you even notice. there’s a better way. use a client that limits you to one hour a day. pick the time, scroll, post, reply. then the feed shuts down. no override, no hidden setting. just a clean break. think of it like scheduled downtime for the user. you get to step outside, let your brain cool off, and stop living in a constant event stream. the notes will still be there tomorrow, but the day won’t.
off to the fiat mines... where I build cabinets for 10 hours while trying to solve nostr and pubky problems in my mind my switch to a less mentally taxing job has the tradeoff of less money, but the freed up mental capacity to work on the software stuff I care about also, 40+ hours a week of screentime feels like an anachronism in the age of AI. more time thinking, less time coding
