Just trying to figure out how I can make my genes survive in the future.
Curious how discussion of the pandemic is completely absent here. Maybe the wrong people sure, but people still get ill. This year I have learnt about evolutionary biology. I think the human species sort of forgot about it, too busy getting rich. But then comes along a likely engineered virus Covid-19. Which mankind, through massive vaccinations, enable immune escape of the virus by means of mutations. The mutations are errors in the transcription process, sometimes they are favorable. What sort of mutation (/variants) are selected? The ones that survive natural selection of course. The virus is going through stepwise mutations to survive right now. A virus survives by multiplying inside the host cell and destroying the host cell in the process, infecting new cells. Only the immune system, which is now being circumvented, can stop this exponential process. Where is this stepwise evolutionary process going then, is the million dollar question.
Reading Charles Darwin 'The origin of species'. He talks about species getting destroyed, as he puts it, routinely. I wonder how many biologists today would be comfortable with that, I wonder how many biologists are comfortable with Darwin's teaching at all. When Darwin published his book, the world was still created by god. His teachings were controversial to say the least. As they seem to be today, but for different reasons. Furthermore, Darwin speaks of natural selection (destruction) and sexual selection (mating) as two different things. Where he views sexual selection as less 'rigourus'. It is a daunting thought, if you die before you can breed, indeed it would be more rigourus. As such sexual characteristics would be outcompeted by characteristics ensuring survival. Beauty is potentially not the most important characteristics in breeding. I wonder which encrypted and distributed systems are the most likely to survive?
The people I follow on this place. They all have the same (or similar) concerns as I do: Government is shit. Makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy and uplifted that this community exists, sad that this is the fringe of the fringe. Most people will never make it to here, or understand why it is so desperately needed. It is like we are on a space expedition to establish a new habitat without any chance of going back. We cannot (and want not) bring the others.
So the people who moved to America in the 19th and early 20th century were largely farmers, the unemployed and people generally who couldn't make their way in Europe. It was likely the opposite of the best and the brightest. They did however have sufficient drive to make it to the US. The people who emigrated to the US later on likely stayed in the cities, as they were not farmers. Is this not reflected in the elections? The behavior of the farmland people very different from the city people.
If you never listened to Sabaton before, I suggest you do. Start with Steel Commanders, then The Last Stand, then Christmas Truce. And more! It's on Spotify.
Don't follow anyone matching any of these criteria: plain or full names, face photo pictures, celebrities (incl nostr devs, influencers), repeat meme posters (/engagement farmers), excessive reposters, news (important news will be reposted by others), women (always attention seeking, they can't help it). They are all more or less trying to get your attention, increase their following, instead of mission of spreading new knowledge and information truth. Unless of course you are looking for entertainment rather than knowledge.
