Having so much trouble keeping my mouth closed today, LoL. Oy. I have to remind myself that it’s just not worth it.
SeedSigner ("the man")
npub1fft9...6sxp
Creator of SeedSigner, lead shill, social media guy, rando internet person, influencer bully, sometime speaker of inconvenient truths.
Just had an extremely energizing call with our core SeedSigner contributors (@Nick Klockenga, @Keith Mukai, BitcoinPrecept & @npub177zf...dp8e) -- things are moving so quickly with the multi-language initiative. So exciting, feeling super blessed.
It is indeed important to call out bullshit.
People with financial interests in building, selling, and/or profiting from license-restrictive, “source available” products should not be involved in grant-making decisions involving free and open source projects that could be seen as “in competition” with said for-profit products.
I am not complaining and am not begging for change, just calling out the bullshit.
Myself and my collaborators just continue to build the better alternative; we are indeed being the change that we want to see. View quoted note →
"It worries me that no large entity/influencer has talked about this in any meaningful detail."
I regularly get DMs from random bitcoiners asking about @SeedSigner FUD & the dynamics around cold storage tool development.
This is worth a read; it’s shared w/ the author's permission.

This is exactly why I've been less interested in using Nostr -- the influencer cults are everywhere and the OpenSats/Ten31/Primal cabal does all they can to channel as many new users into the cult, resulting in this kind of cringe stuff. 🤮 View quoted note →
...Do not ask why a github repo was taken down. Ask why is it possible... View quoted note →
If you have to buy a product that has an exclusively bitcoin-focused use case, it's not private.
If you have to buy a product from a bitcoin-focused company, it's not private.
Definitely stop trusting the marketing. View quoted note →

Bitcoin industry != Bitcoin community
This is a nuanced, but important distinction b/c incentives matter -- you are much more likely to hear about the value of the @SeedSigner project via the latter, whereas the former is more concerned with realizing some kind of financial benefit from selling (or referring you to) a product.
Bitcoin product != Bitcoin project
I get why this is a thing, but it really doesn’t seem ideal. View quoted note →
